Establishing measures Three possible approaches
To audit • % of DAF current best respondents pracBce • No of case studies
To develop • No. of technology technology interventions demonstrators To cement • No. of developed DMPs good data management • Usage of central storage pracBce
Generic
-‐ Unique page views for website/blog Google AnalyBcs -‐ ACendance at project events Feedback form -‐ QualitaBve evidence of interest Register of interest
Internal Researchers
Project specific
-‐ Improved insBtuBonal support for RDM policy formaBon, BC for RDM, quality of DMPs
-‐ Improved data management skills Training logs, feedback -‐ Impact No. of research datasets archived
shared metrics
External Wider research community
Schools Service providers
Partners
Example evidence Google analytics on UH intranet and project blog
Example evidence Feedback from Training most useful
how might you change your RDM
improvements?
where to find more informaBon
Not sure -‐ I really would like to know -‐ using to have this session once everything is up and awareness of what is happening re RDM final DMP, -‐ research project folder structure running at UH, so we can pracBce and use correct templates for our projects About the DMP online and all the resources More focus on the DMP and will share this at our use withmy colleagues understanding RDM and it will be useful No, both were good speakers and helpful excellent presentaBon -‐ lots of v. useful / appropriate info. encrypBon strategies
I don’t have a RDM strategy
I would have preferred to aCend the training encrypted data / shared drive / cloud drives. session aVer the toolkit was finished Given examples for RDM applicaBon
Awareness of online tool, new guidelines
set one up for upcoming project
more info about data sharing opBons
introducBon to the DMPonline system
Planning data management early
Do through an theorecBcal example
RG team is a very useful channel to research community where usefull links are on studynet and examples of DMPs from UH projects
None -‐ conBnue with examples of data management plans for different councils / funders a liCle longer for trying and examples, half hour longer. Obviously all this is sBll in early stages.

Long Term benefits
Short Term benefits
Researchers
Ins3tu3on/Schools
Enhance confidence/experBse in developing DMP for bidding applicaBons Increase awareness of the RDM requirements of funding bodies as well UH policies
Improve awareness of the need for RDM and good research pracBces Improve readiness for audits and changes according to new funding bodies requirements through draVing policies and secng future agenda Increase compliance with local and naBonal policies and reduce risk
Reduce risk of theV, loss or mis-‐use of research data through effecBve use of UH infrastructure
Easier and more secure access to the data through using UH pladorms Save Bme and easier access to data through effecBve use of document management
Service provider More streamlined processes for delivering advice and informaBon Improve forward planning and seek economies of scale
Greater uptake, and more effecBve usage of UH research data management pladorms and faciliBes (shared drive, VPN, etc) Reduce Diversity of support required
Develop understanding of potenBal technologies through evaluaBng and tesBng various systems/pladorm Increase the impact and visibility of RDM embedded into university research Establish sustainable data infrastructure research culture Create successful bids and aCract more UH brand protected Clear systems to allow opBmum use of funding the Research Repository for storage and access of research data Increase research profile through data Promote university research profile Sustainability through sharing of disseminaBon and subsequent citaBon and through sharing data to the research experBse and good pracBce examples re-‐use community Increase potenBals for collaboraBon Deliver more research outputs, and between data users and data creator measure citaBon/re-‐use of those outputs Realise data as an organisaBonal asset.
