A Guide to Read&Write: Implementation Pack for Your School, District or Campus As an educator, you may know students who are struggling readers, have a learning difficulty such as dyslexia, don’t speak English as their first language, or just need a little extra independence. Without proper support, these challenges can present barriers to teaching and learning. At Texthelp we want students to get more from reading and writing by using technology in exciting new ways. With Read&Write students can become confident, independent learners in class, at home and in exams. We’ve put this guide together to help you and your colleagues get to know Read&Write. Read the whole guide, or just dip into the sections that are relevant to you. We’ve also included lots of handy links to other useful information and resources.

The Essentials website contains all the information you’ll need to set-up Read&Write on any platform, including Google Chrome, Windows, Mac, iPad and Android tablets. Make sure you have your Product Code, which you received in your welcome email, in order to log in to the Essentials website. Some of the information you’ll find on the Essentials site includes:

Kicking things off with Read&Write

Introducing to staff

Now that you’ve installed Read&Write, let’s get started. To Kick things off, this presentation (with speaker notes) will help get fellow educators on board. It highlights several of Read&Write’s useful features, which can make life easier when explaining the value of the tool to your colleagues. Our Training Portal is another great resource to turn to when introducing Read&Write to staff. It consists of many short courses that bring together how the software works with strategies and best practices so educators can get the most out of Read&Write.

You can also watch specific Feature videos on our website if you want a deep-dive into how each feature works. Best Practices: Identify educators to become Read&Write experts - select educators from different areas of the school, district, or campus to encourage widespread adoption Find early classroom adopters of Read&Write to determine best practices/use-cases to share with colleagues Use internal message boards, a Google+ group, or the school intranet to encourage educators to share their findings, ask questions, etc.

New software can be a bit daunting. But don’t worry, we are here to help at each stage. Our Training Portal is packed with short courses, broken out by platform, that come with simple instructions, videos, quizzes, guides, and great examples to help you and your colleagues become experts with Read&Write. You can even gain achievements along the way! Even if you already are a Read&Write expert, don’t forget to check the portal regularly for information and training on new product features when we release them. If you’re looking for a more targeted training solution for your school, we offer in-person and web-based expert training tailored to the needs of your organization. In addition, the Training section of the website and the Support site contain a lot of great materials, including reference guides, videos, “how-to” articles, answers to frequently asked questions, and more.
