HONG KONG, CHINA & MACAU An Asian mix of modern style + vibrancy blended with imperial culture + history. HONG KONG Asia’s most cosmopolitan city seamlessly blending East and West cultures. Beyond the fast pace of the city with its soaring high rise buildings are countless shopping malls, restaurants and cocktail bars. Shop for antiques in Soho, take a junk boat across the famous Victoria Harbour or the funicular to The Peak for incredible views of this amazing metropolis.

CHINA One of the world’s most scenic and culturally diverse travel destinations: Shanghai’s modern skyscrapers contrast with the grandeur of Beijing’s historical treasures; the silent rows

t: 1300 303 343

of Xian’s terracotta army to the natural scenic beauty of Guilin and the Li River; cruising down the Yangtze to journeying along the Silk Road. A visit to this vast and fascinating country with so many cultural, historical and natural wonders is a unique experience with iconic memories for the visitor to last a lifetime.

MACAU A former Portuguese colony, Macau is a charming mix of Portuguese and Chinese heritage and is only a short distance from Hong Kong across the Pearl River estuary by jetfoil. It is one of the world’s most densely populated areas and is Asia’s most popular gambling destination.

GO. SEE. DO.

Hong Kong, China & Macau

did you know? n KOWLOON is known for its classic high-end hotels and Asia’s largest shopping complex. With a choice of restaurants, many have superior views to watch the nightly laser-lit ‘Symphony of Lights’ light up the Hong Kong skyline. Further north is Mong Kok, whilst still offering a wide range of fashionable shopping and dining options, has retained the essence of old Hong Kong and its traditional character and colour - haggle with hawkers at the Temple Street Night Market or Jade Market and visit incensefilled temples.

NEW TO VENTURE HOLIDAYS n Hong Kong Walking tours are a new addition this year and a fantastic way to explore Hong Kong on foot and also utilising one of the best public transportation systems in the world. These are tailor made walking tours designed for different interests and local culture. A unique and highly recommended experience! See page 6 for more details.

venture's insight - “Head to Knutsford

Terrace for drinks or tapas style dinner. It’s a locals secret tucked away in a quiet part of Tsmi Tsa Shui offering an array of international bars & restaurants. Great on a balmy evening”

DON’T MISS THIS! n Hong Kong Disneyland is well worth the visit! As the park continues to expand with more attractions & shows you will need to allow at least one full day to experience everything! Make sure you include the Disney Paint the Night Parade in your visit – a spectacular and interactive display that kids and adults will love!

n HONG KONG ISLAND is the

place that many tourists regard as the main focus of their visit, pulsating with energy and crowds of people. Full of contradictions: Haute cuisine in Lan Kwai Fong, trendy bars and cafes in Soho, eating with the locals at dai pai pong in Central; slow and graceful tai chi in Victoria Park; riding the funicular to The Peak or taking the double-decker tram from Central to Causeway Bay.

“. . . Michelinrecommended Cuisine Cuisine at The Mira Hotel showcases a dining experience . . ."

FAVOURITE PLACES & SPACES n Star Ferry: provides fabulous views of the city skyline and takes only 8 minutes – sit on the upper deck – and the best time is at night! n The Peak: take the 120 year-old funicular railway and plan to arrive half an hour before sunset to watch the panoramic city skyline and harbour light up. n The Symphony of Lights: a nightly show of lights and lasers from 44 waterfront buildings on both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. n Stanley Markets: a traditional old open-air market for silk, sportswear and art – great for souvenirs. n Temple Market: bargain at Hong Kong’s liveliest night market where you will find everything from cheap clothes and handbags to fortune tellers and herbalists. n Hong Kong Museum: walk through 8 galleries that give an overview of the territory’s history from village dwellings, a recreation of an entire arcade street from 1881 to film footage of WW11.

Kowloon & Hong Kong Island

The allure of Hong Kong - whether it is for a shopping break or weekend stopover. It is a city full of a surprising range of activities. In contrast to the energy of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, there are the New Territories with more than 260 outer-lying islands (including Lantau Island, home of Hong Kong Disneyland), which reveal a quieter, contemplative side with rugged hiking trails, beaches and fishing villages. With its superb public transport system, Hong Kong is very easy for visitors to explore and make their own discoveries.
