ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Title I Parent Facilitator will provide leadership to the Title I Parent Program with the appropriate curriculum and activities while providing educational opportunities for families of Title I students by supporting their engagement in the education of their children.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: • Teacher certification and/or Social worker degree (Preferred) • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (required) Experience: • Three years of experience working with at risk families and community outreach • Special knowledge/Skills • Experience in providing parent education/training preferred. • Bilingual preferred. • Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. • Good oral and written communication skills. • Ability to organize, manage time and prioritize duties. • Ability to work well with peers, the public, parents and students. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT A. Development and coordination of AISD Title I Engagement programs on all Title I campuses, including support and training for Title I Family Engagement Liaisons and Title I Family Engagement Teams at all Title I Campuses as directed by the Parent and Community Engagement Department (PACE), which would include occasional evening and weekend meetings. B. Write parent engagement curriculum, develop programs, handouts and Power-Point presentations for use by Family Engagement Liaisons. C. Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required. D. Prepare lessons and adapt the curriculum for parent differentiation. II.

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE A. Maintains positive relationships within the PACE department and with AISD campuses and parents/students.

III.

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. Coordinate and manage the Title I Parent Class Schedule for the PACE Department.

IV.

ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT A. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of parents. B. Assist in monitoring Title I Family Engagement records to ensure compliance with NCLB/ESEA

STUDENT MANAGEMENT A. Assist in identifying support service needs of children and work with staff in arranging for their needs to be met.

VI.

SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS A. Attend community fairs to share information about the program.

VII.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT A. Remain knowledgeable about parenting topics and current family engagement trends by attending a variety of training sessions.

VIII.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Identify and coordinate district initiatives as they pertain to Title I families implementing an integrated program across all components with Title I Staff (Family Engagement Liaisons) and the parent.

IX.

MISCELLANEOUS A. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Title I Family Engagement Specialist
