Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to perform PET-CT imaging procedures with the clinical application of radionuclides for diagnosing, staging, restaging, and monitoring treatment response. Relocation package available for qualified candidates. Job Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.  

Explains nature of examination to patients. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, tact, courtesy, patience and safety.  Assists in scheduling and helps to verify appropriateness of indications for procedures to be performed.  Performs procedures with proper positioning and protocol so as to obtain the desired results for diagnosis.  Draws up and calibrates radionuclide doses for the indicated study, in accordance with State regulations.  Performs all procedures with patient and staff safety in mind.  Determines proper technical factors when operating the various scanning and imaging equipment.  Keeps technical and clinical records of each case.  Administers first aid as required and assists in cases of adverse reaction to injections or in other emergencies. (CPR)  Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination of contagious diseases.  Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area.  Operates all equipment properly and with care. Reports immediately any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs.  Maintains an awareness of patient's physical and emotional condition; recognizes and reports adverse signs and takes authorized and/or necessary actions.  Keeps records of acquisition and disbursement of all radionuclides according to the applicable regulations.  Deals effectively and ethically with a variety of personnel and physicians. Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities:  Ability to meet and perform quality control checks and maintain quality control logs and service records for the department in accordance with ACR guidelines, and State and Federal regulations.  Performs daily quality control on cameras and dose calibrators.  Performs daily, weekly, and monthly radiation safety checks in accordance with State guidelines.

Thorough understanding of the equipment and procedures, and proper practices for equipment use. Ability to provide excellent customer service and ensure safety of all staff members and patients at all times. Maintains professional relationship with patients and co-workers at all times. Proficient in starting IV’s Knowledgeable of both oral & IV contrast for CT exams.

Critical Thinking:  Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.  Investigate and follow through on unusual orders or requests for service or information.  Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents so follow-up and/or prevention can occur.  Record/report the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from service.  Ensure compliance with both company and state regulatory standards. Physical Demands and Activities:  Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting.  Intermittent ability to lift and/or move pediatric and adult patients including, heavy, acute and chronically ill.  Intermittent ability to move and/or push stretchers and wheelchairs.  Frequent repetitive wrist and hand motion and manipulation of fine motor skills  Ability to stoop, bend and maintain stationary positions for extended periods of time. Ability to move arms above head.  Ability to move, push or lift heavy equipment.  Visual and auditory acuity.  Incumbent may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.  Incumbent will be required to work at any facility and be responsible for own transportation

Position Requirements:  Associate or two-year degree in radiography  Current NMTCB certification  A minimum of two years of PET/CT experience with knowledge of diagnostic CT scanning is required  Prior CT experience is preferred  Current CPR certification and ability to complete OSHA training.  Superior knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.  Ability to communicate with patients and co-workers.  Ability to stand, sit, kneel, walk and crouch.  Ability to lift and/or move up to 75lbs with assistance.  Proficiency with most major equipment hardware and software.  Experience and/or training preferred.
