ICE Camp 2014 Monday 4th August – Friday 8th August Since 1994, we has been successfully hosting annual summer schools for skaters of all levels and nationality. Our experience has lead to well-organised schedules with a perfect balance of specific on and off-ice classes, activities, and training techniques, allowing you to improve your skating and at the same time enjoy your summer in Dundee. On-ice training will be held in the mornings at Dundee Ice Arena, which is set within the beautiful grounds of Camperdown Park and golf course. Lunch will be provided at David Lloyd Centre, followed by off-ice training in the afternoons. We aim that skaters leave our camp inspired and prepared to train for the coming season. ICE Camp 2014 Monday 4th August – Friday 8th August The Coaching Team Simon Briggs Simon coached eleven times British Ladies Champion, Jenna McCorkell and three times British Men’s Champion, Matthew Parr, to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. He is a NISA Level 5 coach in singles and level 4 coach in pairs. He is one of the world’s leading Technical Specialists, officiating in 2010 Olympic Games, 2009 World Championships and 2008 European Championships, along with many other international and national events. He is Coaching Director for the National Ice Skating Association of Great Britain and competed at international level himself.
Gheorghe Chiper We are delighted to welcome Gheorghe to our ICE Camp in Dundee. During his competitive career he was an eight-time Romanian national champion and competed at two Olympic Games. He is the first Romanian skater to win a medal on the Grand Prix circuit and the first Romanian to land a quadruple toe loop in competition. He is currently coaching a squad of talented skaters in Switzerland.
Kevin van der Perren Kevin is Belgian and the 2007 and 2009 Men’s European medalist and the first skater to do a quadruple toe loop-triple toe loop-triple toe loop combination in competition. He is married to the current British Champion Jenna McCorkell and he coaches in Liederkerke, Belgium. Although he has only recently retired from his amateur career, he has already proven his coaching ability by the success of his skaters both nationally and internationally.
Jenna McCorkell Jenna is an eleven-time British national champion (2003–05; 2007–14) and won seven senior international medals, including gold at the Ondrej Nepela Memorial and Ice Challenge. She placed as high as eighth at the European Championships and 14th at the World Championships and competed at two Winter Olympics (2010, 2014). Jenna currently coaches in Belgium alongside her husband Kevin van der Perren.
Debi Briggs Debi is a NISA Level 5 coach in singles. She has coached British champions since the 1980’s in her own right, taking skaters to European and World Championships and Olympic games. She now coaches in Dundee with her husband Simon Briggs.
Yvonne Cameron Yvonne is a NISA Level 5 coach in singles and has coached skaters to European, Worlds and Olympic Games. She currently coaches in East Kilbride.
ICE Camp 2014 Monday 4th August – Friday 8th August Fees The fee to skaters for the ICE Camp 2014, without accommodation and private lessons, will be: £330.00 for 5 days This school includes a host of activities:
On ice jump technique classes. On ice spin classes. On ice edge classes. Choreography classes. Jump competition. Practice ice. IJS classes. Off-ice workouts. Off-ice lectures. Lunch each day. Travel to and from off-ice venue. Closing presentation.
