About OTEC OTEC is an independent, entrepreneurial, not for profit, training, consulting, and workforce development organization serving the tourism, hospitality and broader service sectors. We are specialists in Customer Service training and strategy; Leadership training and strategy; and Workforce Development initiatives for a range of sectors including tourism, hospitality, healthcare, retail, finance, retirement, social services and education. OTEC is seen as a leader in tourism workforce development and innovation with a strong team culture and pan-provincial partnership base. We are looking for a marketing, communications, and customer-focused individual who is digital and social media savvy to join our team to fulfill a multi-dimensional role of “Marketing & Communications Coordinator.” This is a dynamic and important role and we are looking for a talented person to create and maintain a strong online presence for our organization and to help maximize our marketing, e-commerce, business development, and communications activities. This role will have exposure to all areas of our innovative organization and it provides the opportunity to hone skills in marketing, digital and social media, Board and corporate communications, consulting, e-commerce, business development and project management. The right candidate must be invigorated by working in a small, entrepreneurial, and growing organization, predominantly working in the Ontario marketplace, but also globally focused. To excel, the successful candidate will be customer–centric, very organized, have excellent writing and administrative skills and have good marketing, communications, project coordination, digital and social media experience.

Position Profile: This position is responsible for the coordination of marketing activities (both print and digital), website updates and analytics, social media, database development, client ecommerce reporting, communications and corporate materials to realize the goals of the organization. The role supports the business development team coordinating campaigns to generate awareness and business results. It is a particularly interesting role, actively involved in the development of communications for new technology focused products and services and innovative new products coming to market. Therefore, this role participates in many OTEC project teams providing great exposure to the organization. In addition, this role coordinates reports and communications to the Board of Directors and provides corporate communications support to the President & CEO who directs the branding and marketing activities of the organization. This is a progressive position with lots of room to demonstrate leadership skills and for advancement into a marketing, communications, or business development project manager or manager position. This role will particularly appeal to those interested in the tourism destination management and development; tourism and hospitality workforce development; service sector skills development; business to business marketing, digital marketing, workforce innovation, training, or human resource fields.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR Specific Responsiblities: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Maintain corporate website, update content, track analytics and enhance website search engine optimization capabilities; Measure web traffic and monitor SEO; Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness; Coordinate marketing campaigns and communication activities (both print and digital); Expand and maintain social media activities which include: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or others; Writing and editing (proposals, presentations, blogs, case studies, articles for publications, website content, promotional materials, press releases); Coordinate the development of e-newsletters, e-flyers, printed newsletters and other promotional activities; Coordinate public training session marketing activities; Assist in development of sales and marketing plans; Create PowerPoint presentations; CRM and business development list development and management; Coordinate and lead monthly marketing meetings; Develop and manage project plans for marketing and communication initiatives; Issue media releases or communications to stakeholders; Participate in project teams for marketing initiatives and business development activites; Conduct marketing research online or via other channels as required; When required, coordinate design of training materials and job aids; Develop and manage project plans and coordinate Board of Director reports and communications; Coordinate and produce online and ecommerce sales reports; Provide business development support to the V.P. Client Solutions or V.P. Projects & Partnerships; Provide corporate communications support to the President & CEO including office management duties such as liaising with IT provider, scheduling meetings, writing reports, proposals or presentations, or other duties as required; Assist with training sessions and client meetings for V.P’s and President & CEO, including Board meetings, luncheons, refreshment services, room setup, clean up and tear down when needed.

Good understanding of marketing, new media, and marketing plan development; Well organized and a self-starter with strong multi-tasking abilities; Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple project deadlines; Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail; The ability to work in both print and digital environments; In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google analytics and adwords; Understanding of graphic design (both digital & print) is an asset; Proficiency in Kentico or CMS tools, Illustrator; Indesign, Photoshop is ideal; Competency with digital and social media marketing; Expertise in multiple social media platforms; Excellent project coordination and organization skills: Good team player;

Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize; Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; Ability to work effectively with other team members as well as function independently; Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, ACT and Powerpoint;

Ideal Candidate: • • • •

Graduate or post-graduate of a tourism management, marketing, public relations, new media, advertising, communications, or business from a university or college; Tourism management or workforce development experience is an asset; Business to business marketing or communication experience is necessary; Minimum two years’ experience, but new graduates will be considered with less experience and willingness to learn. Although this is a coordinator level role, more experienced managers with 2 – 5 years’ experience may be reviewed and the position expanded.
