NATIONAL SALES MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY: This sales position provides strategic account management and oversight of a specific sales territory with primary goals of developing and penetrating all assigned markets, lead distribution, driving new business, growing market share, as well as retaining existing clients. Additionally, the position will achieve and/or exceed established personal sales goals through active sales efforts. The individual must have a complete understanding of all destination attributes and stakeholder assets to represent the destination as a “local expert”. The person must be organized, detailed, and professional, self-motivated and have an entrepreneurial spirit. SECTION I ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS: 

Establish an overall strategic plan which includes detailed tactics for the assigned territory, to ensure individual goal achievement.



Conduct professional and unique site inspections of the Greater Palm Springs destination catered specifically to the needs of our customers.



Develop client relationships with new and existing customers.



Build and maintain a client database within the CRM SimpleView system. Maintain communication to ensure the destination remains “top of mind” for new and potential meeting professionals.



Solicit convention groups of all levels and sizes, understanding the need periods and demands of the destination.



Engage and understand the various local destination partners’ strengths, goals and objectives relative to your specific territory.



Prepare and present formal sales presentations to existing and potential meeting professionals.



Conduct independent sales trips within the primary market as often as necessary to be successful. Attend other meetings/conferences as required, which may involve travel.



Have a complete understanding of the CRM system to maximize time and knowledge of the accounts.



Assist with preparing, organizing and conducting professional and unique familiarization tours, sales calls/missions and client events, which may involve CVB staff and destination partners.



Represent the Greater Palm Springs destination at regional and national professional conferences and events.



Maintain and develop your local hospitality “working groups” to meet with once a quarter and idea share about the market conditions, CVB convention sales programs and what could be initiated to continue growth and interest in the destination.
