OFFICIAL EVENT RECAP
PHOENIX FASHION WEEK IN REVIEW Over 5,000 fashionistas, global brands hailing from the Philippines, Kuwait, East Africa, Mexico, and across the United States, gathered at the beautiful Talking Stick Resort (Official Host Partner), for another successful year of fashion in the desert.
The annual event included a week of high fashion, shopping, industry expert-led seminars, partner activations, and a global lineup of emerging and established designers.
HOW WE DID IT: OUR APPROACH Over the past four months, Phoenix Fashion Week has been mentoring and preparing (15) Apparel Emerging Designers, (4) Accessory Emerging Designers, and (40) local models for the biggest runway in the Southwest with the hope of becoming Designer and Model of the Year, respectively. This past October, we strategically partnered with industry leaders, media, businesses, and influencers in the Valley to help execute what was another successful fashion week to date.
HOW WE DID IT: CREATING A BUZZ All year, we collaborated with top-tier media and the local blogger community to share the stories of our emerging designers and models. This October, we activated key media in one-of-akind partnerships which gave them insider access to designers, models, and the Phoenix Fashion Week brand.
HOW WE DID IT: ENLISTING A ROBUST GROUP OF FASHION EXPERTS As the leading fashion authority in the Southwest, we enlisted a notable panel of industry experts to act as mentors, and provide market insight to our group of emerging designers and education community during Phoenix Fashion Week’s annual business of fashion seminars. Topics included branding, blogging, social media, digital marketing, community & global outreach, and fashion law.
DESIGNER BOOTCAMP Dedicated to building global and sustainable fashion brands, Phoenix Fashion Week toured the world in search of the best emerging designers to join our intensive 4-month Emerging Designer Bootcamp, which included business-related seminars, mini-challenges and weekly homework assignments aimed at brand development with guidance from notable fashion experts including True Religion Jeans Co-founder, Kym Gold.
“I was proud to be a small part of this large team at PHXFW, and lending my expertise and experience during the boot camp will hopefully help to propel these new designers to reach their own dreams one day soon.” –Kym Gold
HOW WE DID IT: PAYING TRIBUTE TO ARIZONA’S BUDDING DESIGNER POOL For the second year, Phoenix Fashion Week invited (12) local designers from across the valley to showcase two looks on the runway to help kickoff night one – Community Night. Furthermore, students from The Art Institute of Phoenix also showcased their latest designs. In addition to the runway presentation, attendees were encouraged to download the official PHXFW App to shop these promising community designers straight from the runway! HOW WE DID IT: GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY VIA FASHIONABLY PINK After a three year hiatus, Phoenix Fashion Week proudly kicked off its annual Community Night with a charitable fashion show benefiting “Don’t Be A Chump, Check for A Lump!”
Breast cancer survivors and local celebrities took to the runway to raise breast cancer awareness while Auctioneer Bobby D. & Founder Holly Rose raised money to provide mammograms and wigs for Arizona women in need. It was truly an emotional and inspiring night.
