Fun in the Parks Children of all ages and abilities will be thrilled and challenged as they explore Opportunity Playspace on Scenic Drive, Wanneroo which features universal access play equipment, themed and sensory play areas. Mini golf is an entertaining way for families to enjoy the serene surrounds at Wanneroo Botanic Gardens - day or night - with the extra fun of glow in the dark golf balls. Enjoy a drink or bite to eat at Leapfrogs, specialising in craft beers, boutique wines, great coffee and exceptional food.

Yanchep National Park

Discover heritage

Yanchep National Park is a treasure famous for its picnic spots, scenic beauty, walk trails and limestone caves and is only 45 minutes north of Perth city. For an amazing adventure, tour through some of the hundreds of spectacular caves in the region.

Wanneroo's oldest remaining residence, Cockman House was built in the 1860s and the cottage is a step back in time for those who enjoy bygone eras. Visit the historic Cooper’s Lime Kilns in Mindarie or stroll through Perry’s Paddock in Yellagonga Regional Park.

The park is also renowned for having one of Australia’s largest koala colonies and a superb programme of Aboriginal cultural experiences. At Wangi Mia (‘Talking Place’), Indigenous guides share culture with visitors about the local Nyoongar way of life. The Park is also home to the beautiful Yanchep Inn, set in the rolling bushland with views over Loch McNess and offers a range of dining and stay options. Just by the koala enclose, is the award winning Chocolate Drops Tearooms offering array of specialised home-made chocolates, snacks and meals.

The Wanneroo Regional Museum is a must see to build a bigger picture of Wanneroo's heritage. The recollections of local residents help create a rich tale of the early years. Fascinating displays interpret the region’s evolution from an open land of lakes and traditional Aboriginal lifestyle to a thriving society. A fantastic children's playspace in the museum will keep little ones entertained. A diverse range of exhibitions are on display throughout the year at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre ranging from local artists’ work to exhibitions from national galleries and museums.

Discover Mindarie Marina

Market gardening is an important part of the history of the Wanneroo area and is still a distinctive feature of the landscape. Throughout the year it’s easy to pull off the road and enjoy delicious fresh produce direct from the grower – sample strawberries, grapes, olives and fine wines.

On the western edge is Australia’s largest man-made marina. Mindarie Marina’s Mediterranean-style boardwalks lead you to high-quality cafés and restaurants, plus a sophisticated microbrewery and family-friendly pub serving sea-fresh fish and chips. This is an awesome place to sit back, take in the view and enjoy the evening sunset. You’ll wish you lived here.

Exploring local shipwrecks In the 18 and 1900's several ships succumbed to treacherous reefs leaving the coastline scattered with shipwrecks and creating a rich and intriguing maritime history that’s reflected in suburb names like Alkimos and Eglinton. Now divers can explore these historic artefacts in an underwater adventure. You don’t even have to get wet to see a wreck. The remains of 1917’s Alex T Brown are still visible offshore, above the high-water mark.

Discover more on the coastline Cast a line or grab your snorkel and experience the beautiful Yanchep Lagoon or head further north to Two Rocks, a peaceful coastal community with a marina and boat harbour. The King Neptune statue is a local icon and looks down over the Two Rocks Centre.
