INSTRUCTOR TRAINING INFORMATION Thank you for choosing Parent & Educational Training South Africa (P.E.T. South Africa). Whether you are just beginning your journey with us or already part of our network, our goal is to provide you with a training program that will enable you to become a certified Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) instructor. As a certified P.E.T. instructor, you will become part of our P.E.T. network that falls under Gordon Training International. Your qualification will enable you to present the P.E.T. course to other individuals, organisations, and groups.

What will I learn? • • •

You will be taught the necessary skills to teach and facilitate P.E.T. courses. You will be introduced to the P.E.T. method, our core values, and business model. You will learn how to facilitate group dynamics and be afforded the opportunity to practice your new found skills during the workshop.

Training structure: The points below summarise Gordon Training International’s requirements for a wellprepared, highly qualified instructor. The workshop takes place over five consecutive days. To successfully complete the workshop and become certified you will need to: • • • • •

Attend and be actively present during each session. Complete a practice teaching session during the workshop. Be interviewed by the instructor trainer. Attend a P.E.T. course facilitated by a qualified P.E.T. instructor. Teach a qualifying P.E.T. course to a group of at least three participants within two years from completing the training workshop. The participants will complete evaluation forms, and a positive assessment will result in P.E.T. instructor authorisation and a certificate.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you’ve successfully completed the workshop, you will receive a certificate of provisional authorization to teach a qualifying P.E.T. Workshop. We do recommend that you complete the P.E.T. course (eight weeks) as prior knowledge before registering for the Instructor Workshop. *not a prerequisite

What happens after I qualify as an instructor? As a fully qualified instructor you form a partnership with P.E.T. South Africa which allows you to participate in continued training through meetings, workshops, and fellow instructors’ courses. The partnership affords you the opportunity to establish your own business as a P.E.T. representative.
