Working in Our Communities At Busey, we live our promise through our commitment and dedication to improving the quality of life in our communities. Through volunteerism, we’re able to help others in need, form meaningful relationships with our neighbors, and make a lasting impact for future generations. As we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to community engagement with Community Promise Week—see details below—we asked some of our Busey Wealth Management associates to share how volunteering has impacted their lives.

Blake Wallace Personal Banker

Sharon Law Vice President, Private Client Manager

I have always been passionate about community involvement and volunteering. Since 2009, I have supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois as a Big Brother, and more recently as a board member. Not only have I been privileged to help behind the scenes, I also get to witness the fruits of our labor whenever I spend time with my Little Brother.

I have learned that many young people don’t need much more than a consistent positive presence and someone they can have fun with every now and then. Being that presence for someone feels tremendous. In the almost four years I have been paired with my Little Brother, he has completely come out of his shell—his grades, behavior and outlook have all improved. There is no greater feeling than being a part of something bigger than yourself.

I can still see him sitting in his chair—giving us directions on how to use his tools, sand and stain. He needed the cradles finished as they were gifts for little girls whose families couldn’t afford Christmas. My dad had a big heart, and over the years he gave away several hundred cradles. Through his wonderful example, I learned we should use our God-given talents to help those less fortunate. Because of the legacy my father left, I volunteer to help those in need.

Among the many things I learned from my father, Jerald Crabtree, was the importance of giving. My dad passed away in August of 2000 after fighting cancer. That summer, my husband and I drove to Texas to help dad and my stepmother around the house. Even though Dad was near the end of his life, his biggest concern was getting his baby doll cradles finished in time for Christmas.

Our Ongoing Commitment In addition to our year-round commitment, we are grateful for the dedication our—now more than 10,000—customers and fans have shown by participating with us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to benefit charitable organizations. With the help of our customers, Busey’s social media campaigns generated nearly $8,000 in 2012, in addition to the more than $1 million and countless volunteer hours Busey and its associates donate annually to make a positive difference in our communities. In February 2013, our Busey’s Got Heart campaign raised over $700 for the American Heart Association. Throughout April, we invite you to help battle hunger by donating non-perishable food items at any Busey banking center, and participating in Promise a Plate—Busey’s social media campaign benefitting local food banks—on Facebook and Twitter. At Busey, being a community bank means that we fulfill our promise by bridging needs and making a positive impact. On April 20, Busey will kick off our second annual Community Promise Week. Every year, we dedicate a week to renew our focus on community involvement in an effort to encourage our associates and neighbors to volunteer and make a difference—and aid the good work being done every day by local service organizations. During Community Promise Week, and throughout 2013 and beyond, we will continue to live our culture of service by encouraging engagement with charitable organizations through social media and we hope you will continue to help make a difference with Busey. If you would like to participate in Community Promise Week, call Busey Customer Support at 1.800.67 | Busey.

Is Busey ebank Secure? There are many threats to your financial information in today’s world—both online and in person. At Busey, we make every effort to ensure you have the tools to protect yourself, and keep your peace of mind. One persistent question we receive is whether Busey ebank is a secure method to access your financial information. By meeting or exceeding industry and regulatory standards, we demonstrate the strong emphasis we place on keeping your information safe. Busey ebank requires an 8-12 character password with at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, one number and one special character. We realize these requirements may seem stringent. However, a strong password is a good first line of defense against cyber-crime. Our goal is to ensure your password is complex enough that it cannot be easily uncovered. In addition to your password, we utilize the following: •

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) requires at least two pieces of information, both of which should be very difficult to acquire. In the case of Busey ebank, we require a password and a device (computer and browser, phone, etc.) which you have previously used to access your account. This means that even if one factor is compromised (your phone is stolen, or your password is captured) an identity thief will not be able to access your account.

One-Time Passcode (OTP) is the method used to verify the device you are using is valid. A passcode is generated and sent to you if you log in from an unfamiliar device. The passcode is provided to you through text, by email or in a voice call—information you have already provided our system—and is required before you can access the system.

These three layers of security: your password, MFA and the OTP, are all ways Busey works to secure your information. Please see the information security center on busey.com for details about current threats, and how Busey is working to protect you.
