RIDBC Overview Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) provides quality, innovative services to achieve the best outcomes for current and future generations of Australians with vision and/or hearing loss. RIDBC provides education, therapy and cochlear implantation services for children and adults with hearing and/or vision loss, and their families. Services include:
Early learning programs for children with vision and/or hearing loss from birth to six years Preschool and school programs for children with vision and/or hearing loss and specialist preschool and school support services for children attending mainstream preschools and schools Assessment, planning and therapy sessions for children and adults with vision and/or hearing loss Specialist vision and hearing services delivered to children, adults and families in regional and remote areas of Australia via videoconference and other technologies Cochlear implantation and habilitation services for children and adults, through SCIC Cochlear Implant Program, an RIDBC service World class research, continuing professional education programs and postgraduate courses for professionals working with people with vision and/or hearing loss, through RIDBC Renwick Centre.
As a charity, RIDBC relies significantly on fundraising and community support to be able to continue to make a difference in the lives of people with vision and/or hearing loss. Working for RIDBC RIDBC's ability to provide high quality services to people with vision or hearing loss is directly dependent on the experience, knowledge and professionalism of its staff. With more than 450 employees and over 1,500 volunteers, RIDBC employs a diverse range of staff across its many programs including: teachers, audiologists, speech pathologists, surgeons, orthoptists, occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, technology consultants, academics and researchers. We also employ a range of people in business support functions including corporate services, library services, fundraising, marketing and communications and human resources.

Role Purpose Work with the People & Performance Team to execute the best people strategies that support the Vision, Mission & Strategic Plan of RIDBC. In this varied role you will be working to ensure the communication and delivery of HR initiatives across the organisation as well as be actively involved in key projects.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Marketing and promotion of RIDBC volunteer programs
Advertising of volunteer programs through various communication options Creating and maintaining Volunteer Newsletter Ensuring RIDBC participates in external volunteer acknowledgement events or awards Working in collaboration with RIDBC staff to ensure the participation of these events or awards Working in collaboration with external providers/organisations with RIDBC’s participation of volunteer events (e.g. Rotary Clubs, local council) Attend and contribute to network /information sessions
Answer enquiries relating to the volunteer program for provision of a high quality service to prospective applicants Recruitment and Selection Process
Timely responses and support given within the guidelines of RIDBC policy, practice and applicable legislation Take briefs from Managers on volunteer needs across the organisation and coordinate recruitment and placement of volunteers across all sites Placing Advertisements, conducting interviews and managing a pipeline of volunteers for the organisation
Coordinate and apply continued improvement to on boarding and induction of volunteers
Provide support, advice and encouragement to all volunteers and assist and coach RIDBC staff to manage volunteer experience
Coordinate and manage work Experience and practicum programs
Liaising with Coordinators from schools, universities and training institutes to identify the needs of their students Interview, review and match students for volunteer placements to meet the volunteer recruitment needs of RIDBC Ensure that all schools, universities and training institutes have adequate insurance coverage Page 2
Conduct pre-visits for students of RIDBC facilities (where necessary) Obtain feedback from students to ensure program effectiveness Coordinate and manage corporate volunteer Respond to all queries regarding corporate programs volunteering Internal promotion of corporate volunteer programs Working in collaboration with RIDBC staff to identify Corporate volunteering opportunities Advertising of corporate volunteer projects through various mediums Creating and maintaining guidelines for corporate volunteering Supervising groups during their volunteer day and ensure safety requirements are being met (where required) Obtain feedback from corporate volunteers to ensure program effectiveness Coordinate the volunteer gratitude functions in conjunction with P&P team
Data Entry, Metrics and Reporting
Coordinate two major volunteer events per annum to coincide with National and International Volunteer acknowledgement events Provide volunteers with certificates in relation to their service with RIDBC to recognise volunteer contribution Develop and maintain relationships with local suppliers for gratitude functions including the organisation of donations/contributions for events Working in collaboration with RIDBC staff to assist in volunteer activities/functions Encourage RIDBC staff to participate in acknowledging their volunteers Ensure data records are maintained and up to date in Raisers Edge and other data sources
