Dear Friends, A warm welcome to all this evening and a sincere thank you for joining us for our 2014 Auction Gala “To Everything There Is a Season.” Our parish of St. Stephen Protomartyr is special in so many ways. Your presence here tonight tells me that you feel the same way. Our church and school are the heart and soul of our family of faith. I am certain that each and every one of you wants to keep these treasures strong and growing for generations to come. We are pleased to present this event once again and hope that you enjoy the transformation of our Parish Center to a ‘60s celebration. This Gala provides a special opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new ones, and at the same time browse, buy, donate, and take part in any number of raffles. But most of all, please enjoy the evening while you support the parish. An event like this does not happen overnight. I would like to express my appreciation for all the hard work that makes this night possible. A special thanks to chairs Victoria Hatfield and Stephanie Wobbe, as well as to every single volunteer involved with this event. Your dedication and hours of service are appreciated. General Auction Rules:
All sales are final. There will be no refunds or exchanges. Payment for items auctioned is mandatory on January 31, 2014. All goods and services purchased at the Gala will be used at the sole risk of the purchaser, and neither the Gala nor St. Stephen Protomartyr will be responsible for any damage or injury occurring to any user of said purchased goods and services. All items are sold as-is.
Express Pay: No checking out is needed at the end of the evening, no waiting, no lines, no hassle. Present a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover debit/credit card at the Cashier’s office before 8:30 p.m. Your purchases are charged to your debit/credit card and a final statement will be mailed to you. If you do not sign up for Express Pay, payment must be collected at the Cashier after 10 p.m. Payments are accepted as cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit cards.
All goods are to be taken with the successful bidder at the close of the auction. Successful bidders on items such as dinners and services will be given a certificate for that item. We expect that Gala guests will drink responsibly. However, we will arrange transportation home for anyone who requests it.

FUND- A- NEED: Outdoor lighting A Fund-A-Need auction is designed to raise funds for a very specific purpose. This year’s Fund-a-Need will focus on light. Our campus is in need of lighting on the parking lots and washed uplighting on the buildings. This will improve safety as well as increase our presence as the “Beacon of Holly Hills.” This is the first step in a phased effort to augment our marketability and stability as a parish and school. Come to the light! The estimated cost of this project is $16,995. During the Fund-A-Need auction, our auctioneers will start the bidding at the level of $500 and work their way down through descending pre-set donation levels. Those wishing to contribute $500 to the outdoor lighting project will raise their bid cards until their numbers have been recorded. We will then move on to the next level and invite bids. These bids will be recorded as purchases and added to your statement before checkout. The idea behind this type of auction is to invite the participation of all guests, with levels of donation ranging from $500 down to $10.
UPDATE: As of January 23, 2014, through a major contribution from the SSP Golf Tournament Committee, a generous donation from Villa Lighting, and support from the SSP Girl Scouts, we were able to complete the funding for the outdoor lighting prior to this event.
FINE ARTS FUND: Music, band, art The Gala committee is excited to offer a new tableside giving opportunity this year. The money collected is a private donation and will go directly to the school to fund the fine arts program, which includes music, band, and art education. During the course of the oral auction, Steve and Dave will direct you to a special card on your table for the Fine Arts Fund and ask interested individuals to fill those out. They will be collected tableside. This gives guests a chance to donate who perhaps want to remain more anonymous in their giving or who simply want to give to that program. The money raised has the potential to do the following: purchase band equipment; fund field trip opportunities; purchase art supplies for all classes; improve the sound systems in the Parish Center, church, and school; and much, much more.
ORAL AUCTION RULES The oral auction will begin at 8:30 p.m and will continue until all items have been sold. Your bid number is on a card in your packet. Bidders are asked to hold this number up when bidding for items in the Oral Auction. Only your number will be accepted. You may not use someone else’s number. The auctioneer will give a brief description of each item before it is auctioned. If you are the winning bidder, a bid sheet will be brought to you for your signature and the purchase will be added to your statement and delivered to your table.
