With a strategy in place and three interventions well underway, CivicAction is now working to take Escalator across the Province and develop evidence-based tools to help leaders identify and address barriers within their organizations that may hinder the success of young people. We are looking for an actionoriented Project Officer to help make this a reality.

ABOUT THIS POSITION: CivicAction is seeking a full-time Project Officer for a 9 month period (from February 2017 to October 2017) to assist in managing and coordinating the planning, and implementation of activities relating to CivicAction’s Escalator: Jobs for Youth Facing Barriers initiative. Working with Project Managers and CivicAction’s community of leaders, the Project Officer will be responsible for helping to drive the core activities of the initiative.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Coordination and Administrative Support  Coordinate activities of volunteer working groups and provide support, when required  Coordinate all aspects of meetings and events; preparing and distributing agendas and other materials; booking meeting rooms; arranging refreshments; and taking and distributing minutes at selected meetings  Prepare briefings, meeting materials, and presentations, as required  Maintain confidential contact management system and email lists  Maintain necessary electronic and paper filing system for CivicAction  Draft and circulate communications for internal (key stakeholders) and external audiences, including updates, announcements, newsletters, etc.  Respond to requests for information

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS: Experience, Skills & Knowledge  2-3 years relevant work experience required  Experience working with business and community leaders strongly preferred  Project coordination experience – proven ability to “get things” done  Knowledge of the needs and experiences of youth facing barriers to employment will be considered an asset  Excellent project and time management skills, with ability to prioritize activities to ensure deadlines are met  Excellent communicator, skilled in liaising with stakeholders (written & verbal); able to craft concise documents including memos, PowerPoint decks, website copy, and promotional materials Proficiency with popular web content management systems (WordPress, Drupal) Approach  Initiative and drive – ability to chart and pursue a clear path while exercising sound judgment, initiative and decision-making  Disciplined and organized - ability to meet tight deadlines  Flexible and adaptable to change – comfortable with agility, ambiguity, and change  Creative – ability to “figure things out”  Relationship builder – ability to build key relationships and work effectively with counterparts and senior leaders from a diverse range of organizations  Ability to work independently and as part of a team  Display a high level of motivation and enthusiasm for work and willingness to take on new tasks when required HOW TO APPLY: Please send your résumé and tell us why you’re interested in this role (in no more than 200 words) to [email protected] by January 20 at 5:00PM.
