Mental health champion and Former Global Vice President HR Unilever

“Challenge, change and stay curious – the future of health and safety”

“Mental health – a competitive advantage”

John is an internationally acclaimed expert in Safety II – an approach that changes safety management from “avoiding things going wrong” to “ensuring everything goes right”. He is widely recognised for his safety achievements at multi-national construction giant Laing O’Rourke. John will explore what changes we need to make to put people at the centre of workplace health and safety, rather than just focusing on good systems and processes. He will cover the changes we need to make as health and safety practitioners, as well as the shifts in skills and competencies that are needed.

From Ted Talks to HASANZ CONFERENCE 2018. Committed to breaking the stigma associated with mental health issues in the corporate world, Geoff has consulted David Cameron and CEOs from Footsie 100 companies, and supported Princes William and Harry on their Royal Foundation mental health campaign. Geoff will speak about the energising role of good mental health in the workplace and how this can be a competitive advantage. He will show how focusing on worker wellbeing can grow business, and help attract and retain talent, sharing good practice and providing tools to turn the negative into a positive.

IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE BUSINESS LEADERS’ HEALTH AND SAFETY FORUM

Dr Julia Norris Australia Eldeen E. Pozniak Canada

GP and President Elect of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists

Immediate Past President of INSHPO

“Collaboration towards improved worker health”

“Do we have what it takes?”

Julia is an advocate of preventative health with a unique combination of qualifications and experience in both occupational hygiene and medicine. Wearing two hats herself, Julia is passionate about the pluses of a multi-disciplinary approach to health and safety issues. Her address will include strategies for success in establishing effective working health collaborations, as well as the possible pitfalls. She will share case studies to illustrate what happens when we fall short, and also stories of the success that can be achieved through a systematic culture of collaboration across health and safety professions.

Eldeen will talk about what it takes to be truly successful as workplace health and safety professionals today, based on more than 25 years of experience as a global health and safety professional and her time as the head of the International Network of Safety and Health Professional Organization. She will take us on a journey of exploring why we do what we do, before outlining INSHPO’s Occupational Health and Safety Professional Capability Framework and how it can help us focus on the roles, capabilities, knowledge and skills that we need to have.
