Social and Fundraising

Raffle this week Double Pass for the 9th June to Broncos vs Rabbitohs

Chocolate Drive Time to treat your sweet tooth or brush up on your sales skills!

The Cadbury chocolate drive is upon us again. On the 10th of June, each family will be allocated one box of chocolates to sell. Boxes will contain Picnics, Cherry Ripes, Crunchies, Turkish Delights and Twirl bars.

We understand that not everyone may wish to sell chocolates so we are offering the opportunity to donate $25 instead of selling a box. To assist us with ordering and to minimise the number of boxes brought back, please advise Shelley at [email protected] or on 0419 032 636 if you do not wish to receive a box. If no advice is received and confirmed back to you by Sunday, 4 June a box will be ordered for your family and it will be your responsibility to sell it and return the money by the due date. Likewise, if you would love to take more than one box on delivery day please also advise so they can be prepared for you. Don’t forget every box sold earns you a 1 hour credit on your volunteer levy.

Save June 24th for our second fun Car Rally.

Cluster Day Cluster Day #1 What a fantastic day we had at the first of the Cluster Days. 150 grade 5 and 6 students came together to play hockey. The 6 schools competing on the day were Bayview, Capalaba SS, Cleveland SS, Mt Cotton, Thornlands SS and Ormiston SS. 16 teams played each over throughout the day, in a fun focused carnival, promoting the joy of Hockey, while exposing students to some of the basic rules of hockey. As hosts to this Cluster Day, Redlands Hockey provided a group of great coaches, and wonderful Student Officials as Umpires! Thank you to the following people…without your help the day would not of run so smoothly. Sue Aitken, Anne Swann, Ross Romero and Matt Woosnam. Sue cooked and served up in the canteen, while the others coached the teams….well – sort of….it was a lot of repeat calls “spread out” and “pass out wide”!!!!! Massive thanks to the students from Cleveland State High and Carmel College – Brooke Addison, Hannah and Jessica Frater, Jay Woosnam, Corey and Jai Hale, Kate Swann, Emma and Sam Systa, Kayley and Steve Clements.

Special mention to Brooke who took control of the umpires, going over the rules and allocating umpires to games!

Team Training days are Monday - Blue Teams Tuesday - Green Teams Wednesday - Red Teams Thursday - Gold Teams

Under 7s Player of the Week - Elise Wilton

2010 was our third year of operation. We were still being promised to move to Henry Ziegenfusz Park, so we settled in to Vienna Woods School for another season, maybe 2011. By now we have over 200 members and our make up was an U7 team, 4 x U10s; 4 x U12s and our older juniors increased to 4 teams of U16s. The seniors swelled to 4 women’s teams and 2 men’s teams. There were now 20 coaches and assistant coaches, 15 managers, 25 umpires and 20 umpire mentors. We were becoming renowned within Queensland of running the best umpiring program churning out great umpires for the future. We again established Sub committees and Coordinators in key areas including Coaching, umpiring, junior and seniors. Our aim was always to spread the workload. Every junior team now had a sponsor and we raised $15,000 in cash and kind through the sponsorship program, we also received grants up to $15,000 from Aust Sports Commision, Woolworths and Redlands City Councils to assist in funding coaching, umpiring and first aid courses. We were still actively involved in the AASC program and visited 6 schools to run the program. We ran the best fundraiser ever, a VIP night at Harvey Norman Cleveland where we raised $5,000 to assist in funding our rep teams. We again sent a boys and girls U11 teams to the carnival day, boys and girls U13 teams (girls flew to Atherton, very exciting for a young association), boys and girls U15 teams (boys teamed up with Tweed Border), an U18 girls team, a women’s masters and for the first time a men’s masters team. The Under 11 Boys brought home the trophy from the Coulter Shield Carnival winning Division 2, Women’s Masters brought home the Division 5 Trophy and we had our very first State Player, Sharon Collins represent us in the Qld Over 55s team. It was an exciting year.

Sharon receiving her selection into the O55s Qld team.
