Sittwe Township 1 - Say Tha Mar Gyi IDP Camp (estimated 11,725 residents)

Issue 

Status CAMP MANAGEMENT: Ongoing information gathering , sharing and daily access to services monitoring. Community consultations on kitchen refurbishment. Follow-up on shelters vacated by the group who moved to OTG-W due to threats from STMG CMC / Host Community, shelters are now occupied by other families.  SHELTER: Remains priority concern for IDPs in camp, very worried about upcoming rainy season. Some moved from damaged shelters to those vacated by the group who moved to OTG-W. WASH: Ongoing regular activities by CDN: latrine and camp cleaning, construction of concrete drainage. Oxfam is numbering boreholes and checking the latrines. Latrines need repair; damaged and stolen hand pumps need repair/replacement. HEALTH: MHAA and MRF operated a clinic during 3 week days (Mon, Wed, Fri). No major health concerns reported. FOOD: Food distribution completed for May. IDPs report lack of information about food delivery and distribution dates for June. EDUCATION: All TLSs are running 5 days per week. School kits have been provided this week. NON-FOOD ITEM: UNHCR met with CMC Members about the use of DRC CCCM Household survey for NFI distribution planned to take place very soon. PROTECTION: IPAs distributed to monthly caseload of most vulnerable. NUTRITION: Ongoing activities by SCI and ACF, monitoring, referrals, group work and counselling. Data collection on child malnutrition, health education for mothers of children under 5. CHILD PROTECTION: CP activities ongoing; all CFSs operational. Reports of armed security police entering a CFS near the security on several occasions; children feeling afraid. This was reported to Village Administrator but no action was taken to address the issue.



 

-Lists of Beneficiaries HH continue to pose challenges for distributions in the camp. -DRC advise contract agreed and works to commence in camps in next two weeks.

- food concerns reported to WFP – No Update at time of reporting. -Request for school kits forwarded to UNICEF last week in meeting. -NFI sector is following-up.

-DRC CCCM reported to SCI Child Protection, coordinating joint response.

Issue 

CAMP MANAGEMENT: Ongoing regular activities, information sharing, information gathering and daily access to services monitoring.  SHELTER MAINTENANCE: shelter roofs are badly damaged throughout the camp, as well as floors in some shelters; IDPs state majority have to use tarpaulins.  WASH: Regular activities ongoing; health education on AWD; camp and latrines cleaning, full latrines have been desludged.  HEALTH: No clinic in the camp (PYK considered as part of STMG camp), difficulty accessing clinics in other camps due to distance and transportation costs. Repeated request for clinic to be operated within PYG.  FOOD: Food distribution completed for May. IDPs report lack of information about
