The Warren Township School District offers children attending kindergarten through eighth grade opportunities for enrichment activities and extended/aftercare services for a fee. Remedial programs are available for Warren residents, free of charge, upon teacher recommendations. Enrichment and remedial courses are available to out-of-district students for a fee.

Remedial Classes K-8 Remedial Classes are for students who are recommended by their teacher. Classes are free for Warren Township students who are identified by their classroom teacher as needing additional instructional support. These classes should be considered crucial to the child’s future academic success; therefore, students should attend on a regular basis.

Cost for out-of-district students recommended by their classroom teacher; $500 (per class) grades 1-5

Remedial Development Course Descriptions Kindergarten Readiness – Offered to children entering kindergarten in September 2017, who were identified during kindergarten screening as requiring additional support for academic and social success. Kindergarten Review – Offers students who have completed kindergarten, and are recommended by their classroom teacher, a review of skills. Integrated Language Arts – Offers students small group instruction focusing on development of phonics, reading comprehension, writing and study skills. Mathematics – Offers students small group instruction focusing on development of concepts, computations, and word problem skills.

Sibling Discount. The first child in a family that registers pays full price. Additional children receive 10% Discount. Students that sign up for one period for all five weeks qualify for our Super Saver Discount Price (One week Free). Students who sign up for Super Saver Discount may select a different class each week over the entire program. Additional 10% Early Bird Discount if register and pay in full by May 5, 2017. Teen Adventures This camp program is designed just for Middle School students. In Teen Adventures attendees get to socialize while learning new skills while training to be future volunteers and aides for our Summer Fun Program. Teens will attend two periods of training (period 1 & 2) and two periods (period 3 & 4) of student – selected enrichment classes, Students must sign up for all four periods per week, but are not required to attend all five weeks.

Extended Day Program 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm The Extended Day Program is supervised by certificated teachers and begins with a student-provided lunch. Children will have the opportunity to play games, enjoy movies, create art and participate in recreational activities. Pre-registration is required. $550 (entire program) or $35 (daily rate) After Care Program 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm After Care is run by the same teachers and will be available following the Extended Day Program. Please make sure to send your child with a snack. Additional healthy treats will be provided along with additional activities. Pre-registration is required. $650 (entire program) or $40 (daily rate)

Enrichment Course Descriptions Adventures in Yoga - Ms. M. Forenza (Grades 2-8) Do you like to pretend and move? Well, in this fun-filled course you will stretch your imagination as well as your body! Each week we will explore a theme and play games, make crafts, and act out stories that will encourage team work, patience, and respect while strengthening your coordination, focus, and flexibility! So jump on board and get ready for some exciting adventures through Yoga! Arts & Crafts 101 – Mrs. L. Lukko (Grades K-8) Do you like working with different materials and creating amazing projects while having fun with your friends? Then this year’s Arts and Crafts 101 class is perfect for you! So if you like using your imagination and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this class is everything you’ve been looking for! Come join us as we explore, try new things, play, get messy and create beautiful works of art. Animal Planet - Mrs. W. Piller (Grades K-6) Touch down on our amazing Animal Planet where we’ll explore the animal kingdom through tons of hands-on activities. Want to cook up some tasty treats like chocolate mice or edible butterflies? Want to learn fascinating facts about cute, cuddly and even strange and scary creatures? Then this is the course for you. Through cooking and crafts you’ll get to go on the adventure of a lifetime! Comic World - Mr. R. Bardy (Grades K-8) POW! BAM! ZOOM! Run, don’t walk to enter the exciting world of COMICS! All students will be creating their very own stories and characters and drawing them into finished Graphic Novels. Through a variety of mediums and technologies, including Photoshop, your characters will spring to life. Come prepared with tons of creativity and excitement and join us in the action packed world of Comics! Computer Graphics & Design – Mrs. D. Porchetta (Grades K-8) Let’s have some fun creating art on the computer! In this class you will have the opportunity to make art which you can place in stationary, on cards or even create iron-ons for your clothes and back packs! Students will apply their creative ideas and gain new computer skill! So join us and bring your creativity as you make your very own Graphic Designs! Cooks with Books – Mrs. M. Kraminitz (Grades K-8) Reading has never tasted so good! This exciting cooking course is the perfect way to introduce young chefs to a culinary adventure and develop their passion for nutritious and delicious food. Books within this program are chosen to reinforce both academic and social skills and support diverse cultures. Each chef will create their very own recipe book to take home at the end of each week! Cooperative Games and Adventure – Mr. P. Jones (Grades K-8) Come and enjoy this exciting course. Through cooperative games children will develop social skills while having the time of their lives. We will play games that focus on teamwork, foster self-esteem, develop creative problem solving skills, and promote good sportsmanship. Some examples of games we will play are capture the flag, team tag games, human “Battleship”, and more. Come make friends, learn new skills, and be challenged! Crafty Creations – Ms. M. Stora De Cruz (Grades 1-8) Get your creative juices flowing as we design, decorate, and create beautiful clothes, jewelry, accessories, and room décor using beads, dye, clay, fabric, and duct tape. Learn how to upcycle things you have at home to create amazing fashion and decorative pieces! Be the envy of all your friends when you show off your creativity!!! Some supplies must be purchased.

Creating with Clay – Mrs. L. Seccamanie (Grades K-8) Come be creative with clay! Each week will offer unique projects from designing your own containers and boxes, to making clay items to hang and to sit. We will make animals, sea creatures, summer-themed clay pieces, and more! We will also paint our clay creations once they are dry! Don't miss out on making 3-D art of your very own design while using a variety of clay, tools and techniques! Come catch the clay craze! Discover Science – Mrs. M. LeBlond (Grades K-8) Students will explore basic science principles in this engaging hands-on class. Each day, participants will perform an experiment or be involved in an activity to enhance their knowledge of the world around them. We will investigate the power of microscopes, magnets, and air pressure. We will discover the science behind Silly Putty, slime, bubbles, and crystals. Join us for sun-sational summer science fun! Gaming Superstar (device–free) - Ms. J. Ziobro (Grades K-8) Back by popular demand! Come spend time exploring the fantastic world of games. This course will offer weekly themed opportunities for participants to learn and try different types of games from cards, board, old fashioned outdoor, and strategic ones. Each week you will have a chance to create, share and play your own personalized games, and find new ways to make old games more exciting. Come join us as we explore the wonderful world of gaming! I-Pad World – Ms. C. Beekman Brink (Grades K-8) (The district will provide I-Pads) (New Course) Creativity comes to life with technology! Can you imagine making a scavenger hunt with QR Codes? Can you see yourself creating cartoons, or I Spy pictures, taking and drawing selfies, producing videos, inventing games or apps or coding? If you can, then this class is for you! In I-pad World students will be introduced to a number of digital tools available on the iPad, and use them to produce and share projects of their choice. Come and explore the amazing world of I-Pads! Innovation Station – Mr. D. Ticchio (Grades K-8) Do you like to design, construct and play with rolling, twirling or flying machines? In this hands-on STEM-based course (science, technology, engineering and math) you’ll get to do just that! Students will build with k’NEX sets as well as everyday materials to create functioning machines. Some projects will be taken home, while others will be on display for parents and friends to view in action. Join us at the Innovation Station and set your imagination free. Just Dance – Mrs. Trump (Grades K-8) all skill levels welcomed! Do you enjoy listening to popular songs on the radio? Does music get you moving? Then this is the class for you! It doesn't matter if you’ve been dancing for years or never set foot on the floor before. Each week, Mrs. Trump, a professional dancer with over ten years teaching experience, will have you performing a new routine. Let Mrs. Trump share her love of dance with you! Come out and just dance!! Lights, Camera....Action! – Mrs. A. Jensen (Grades K-8) Calling all actors, actresses and comedians! Do you like making up your own commercials, skits or TV shows? In this course you can create funny scenes with props and costumes! You can even bring in your own camera to record your performance and share with your family and friends! This class is open to all creative/funny students who want to have fun acting, and making people laugh. Come shine like a star! Math Wizards – Ms. J. Thomson (Grades K-8) Come and explore the wizarding world of math! In this fun-filled course you will get to use simple math facts to build bridges, create beautiful art works, fly kites and even break codes. Each week we will go on an adventure testing the boundaries of the mathematical world to make everything from string art to tessellations. Come join us as we use math to create fantastical out-of-the world creations. Picture Perfect Painting – Ms. R. Davenport (Grades K-8) (New Course) Are you a budding Picasso or an aspiring Monet? Do you like art and want to experiment with paint? If so this class is for you! In this exciting course students get to learn about famous painters and try different paints, styles and techniques. So pick up a brush, bring your creativity and let your artistic abilities shine and create your very own masterpieces!

P.L.A.Y. – Ms. L. Lamson (Grades K-8) “Physical & Leisure Activities for the Young” is a course where you will have fun and stay fit through indoor sports and games such as waffle ball, polar bears and Eskimos, snow castles and much more. Learn trust, teamwork, and selfexpression while being physically active! Reading and Writing Explorations - Ms. F. Perlman (Grades K-8) In this course students will be exposed to a variety of literature and have the opportunity to author, illustrate and bind their own books!. Younger students will create ABC, number, animal, rhyming, or poetry books. Older students will be able to write chapter books or research material for non-fiction writing. So come experience the joy of reading, writing and illustrating! So, You Wanna Sew? – Mrs. S. Leonard (Grades 3-8) In this fun-filled course we will hand sew and use sewing machines to make a variety of items such as tote bags, pocketbooks, cell phone cases, lap quilts, pillows, infinity scarfs and so much more! We will start with a hand sewing project and work up to using the sewing machine. You might even make a quilt from old tee shirts that you don't wear anymore! School of Rock – Mrs. K. Sutherland (Grades K-8) Have you always wanted to play in a band? Have you dreamed of singing with a POP group or being on American Idol? Well, here’s your chance! At the “School of Rock” you will get to record music on stage with a real life band. Bring your guitar or just bring your voice! Other instruments will be provided. Let’s JAM! Experience is welcome but no experience is necessary…. Come and enjoy making and recording music! Space Camp – Ms. C. Wells (Grades K-8) If you’ve ever dreamed of life in space or becoming an astronaut then our camp is for you! Together we’ll explore stars, comets, planets, galaxies, lunar missions, and so much more. Each week we’ll conduct experiments, create crafts and even make space snacks. Grab your spacesuit and get ready to blast off with Space Camp! Teen Adventures – Mr. P. Jones (Grades 6-8) Required to become future Summer Fun volunteers and future aides. Attendees must sign up for all four periods of Teen Adventure for one or more weeks. Teen adventures will prepare Counselors-In-Training (CITs) to become future volunteers for Summer Fun. CITs will engage in weekly team-based, problem-solving adventures built around skills crucial to working with children and teenage life. Each week’s adventure will require teens to work together to solve a complex problem using a variety of resources and methods. Adventure scenario themes may include Babysitting Bonanza, Survival School, Teenager Trials, and Career Crisis! The class will run as a special double session each day, followed by two periods of choice activities each day where they can have fun, learn, and “hang” with their friends! Tumbling, Cheerleading & Gymnastics – Mrs. S. O’Shea (Grades K-8) all skill levels welcomed! If you are a cheerleader here is a great opportunity to improve your tumbling skills. Get ready to learn gymnastics skills with a certified USGA gymnastics trainer. The focus will be on strength training and flexibility. So if you want to learn cartwheels, back-walkovers…or even work on your back handsprings come on in and let’s have some fun. Let’s get our Warren spirit going and learn some cheers and stunts! We will be the Summer Fun Cheer Squad!! Treasures of the Sea – Ms. C. Parolise (Grades K-8) (New Course) Do you enjoy a day at the beach? Have you ever gazed upon the sea and wondered “What’s out there?” In this actionpacked course we will explore the many amazing things found within the depths of the ocean. We will learn about waves, currents, marine life, conservation and so much more, through hands on experiments, crafts, and cool activities. So grab your wetsuit, goggles, and scuba gear and dive into the deep blue sea!
