“Our oral and maxillofacial surgery practice identified the need for in-house cone beam CT scanning, about five years ago. However, we found that the machines available at that time did not provide the flexibility that we required. We wanted a machine which could provide us with small Field of View images with minimal radiation, for the day-to-day imaging that we do in implant dentistry. As Maxillofacial surgeons, we also need the full field of view of the maxillofacial region, for diagnosis of pathology and treatment planning in reconstructive and orthognathic surgery. Finally in a busy oral and maxillofacial surgery practice we needed a machine which could provide us with true high-quality panoramic radiographs, rather than simulated reconstructions.
