DR. JOHN SCHMIDT MEMORIAL FUND AWARD FOR 2017 Dr. John Schmidt was a leader in Oregon Chiropractic for many years. He was a second generation Oregon chiropractor that was licensed in 1971. His father Dr. Ralph Schmidt was also a leader in the profession and served as the President of the OBCE. They practiced together in Silverton, Oregon for many years until Dr. Ralph Schmidt retired. Dr. John Schmidt was one of the founders of a prior state association known as “Oregon Doctors of Chiropractic” (ODOC) and was on the Unification Board of the Oregon Chiropractic Association (OCA) in 2008 when we merged into just one chiropractic state association. In January 2014, Dr. “Johnnie” passed away and his family asked that donations be made to the Dr. John Schmidt Memorial Fund through the OCA. As such, each year the OCA awards a deserving student a $500 cash award in his name from that fund.
