About the presentation: The presentation will provide an introduction to E-Waste, its problems and then focus on how an electronic waste is managed in India. The major defect lies in improper recycling methods which are being adopted in the country. The absence of safety measures such as wearing masks and gloves has proved to be unhygienic in the recycling environment. The demand for electronic waste treatment is increasing day by day because of the extensive use of electronic devices. Additionally, the developed countries like the USA exports E-Waste to India which has become the major challenge for waste management department. In India, the process of E-Waste management takes a very long period of time because of the lack of formal procedures and latest technology.

About the Speakers: Dr. Krishnamurthy Prabhakar is currently the Dean and Professor of Management at SRM University. Graduated from Madras University in Science with first class and specialized in operations management in MBA with distinction. His doctoral thesis work at Aligarh Muslim University was on social forecasting. He was further trained at IIM, Calcutta. He has authored books on management discipline in the areas of Software Marketing, Strategic Issues in Software Marketing published by Pondicherry University and Hospital Management by Annamalai University for distance education. He is a Shell Scholar for Corporate Governance and participated in an International Conference on Corporate Governance (2003) on invitation from Asian Institute of Management, Philippines. He is also a recipient of prestigious scholarship to attend an advanced research fellowship at University of Padova, Italy. He was selected as speaker (2012) at Globethics.net on Ethics at Geneva. Oxford University, Human Development and Capability Association provided a scholarship (2012) to study Multidimensional Poverty Index in Jakarta. Institute for Studies on Economics and Employment awarded scholarship (2014) to attend summer school conducted by three Nobel Laureates and had the privilege of being a student of Professor James Mirrlees, Robert Engel and Michael Spence. He is a Research Supervisor for SRM University, Bharathiyar University and Deakin University, Australia in the areas of Strategic Management, Operations Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. He was a member of the board of studies (2014-2015) of the Centre for Social Initiative and Management, a pioneering institution in promoting social entrepreneurship in India.

Mr. Udhayakumar Thiyagarajan, an alumnus of Anna University with BE in ECE and Manipal University with MS in CSE is now pursuing his research at SRM University. He has two decades of work experience which includes: Solution Architect at Hewlett Packard Enterprises from Aug 2011: Senior SAL Consultant at HCL- AXON for a year; Associate IT Consultant (SAP) at ITC InfoTech for three years and Sales Coordinator for a decade from 1997 at Tata Chemicals. He is a Certified Environmental Health Management System Lead Auditor and also holds ITIL V3 Certification and also SAP SD ECC EHP6 certification. Mr. Udhay has been trained in SAP Global Trade Service, PMP by reputed organizations. His technical expertise includes: SAP Sales and Distribution (SD); SAP Trade Fund Management (TFM); SAP Transport Management System (TMS) and SAP CRM. His research interest is in the areas of E-waste Management and General Waste management and Environmental Science including Environmental Impact Assessments an dhas nine published papers to his credit. Under social responsibility, he has been involved in Plantations and Cleaning of the Area; Educating environmental Impacts to student community and society and serves as Vice President of a large residential welfare association.
