Ecology Consultant Do you have a passion and enthusiasm for wildlife? Can you help us deliver our quality tailored ecological advice to a wide range of amenity and sports organisations? If this sounds like you, then we have a unique opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic person to join STRI’s rapidly expanding UK operation, based in West Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise field skills and develop and deliver ecological consultancy to the world of sport, particularly but not exclusively, within golf. Many golf courses operate as nature reserves and are instrumental in conserving some of our rarest and most vulnerable biodiversity interests. STRI is world leading multi-disciplinary sports surface consultancy and research centre, covering the amenity and recreation sectors. We work on a large number of high profile projects and require first class, innovative and motivated staff.
Your role will include:
You will need:
• Species and habitat surveys
• BSc (Hons) in a relevant scientific or environmental background
• Providing ecological consultancy • Obtaining ecological consents and permits • Preparing ecological management plans • Operating as Ecological Clerk of Works • Developing and delivering educational programmes to sports venue managers • Client engagement • Sharing knowledge through articles and by presenting at industry gatherings
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in field work • Strong field skills including survey techniques, species identification and habitat management • Consultancy experience • Good understanding of land management and environmental issues • Experience with the application process of environmental consents from legislative bodies • Excellent communication skills • Hold or be eligible for CIEEM membership • Full UK drivers’ licence
