What this document is

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance, an independent human rights body within the Council of Europe, periodically monitors each member state's record on racism, discrimination and intolerance and publishes a country report at the end of each monitoring cycle. Its report on the Czech Republic followed a delegation visit from November 25 to 29, 2019, during which ECRI gathered information on equality and access to rights, hate speech and hate-motivated violence, and integration and inclusion.

The resulting report called on Czech authorities to end all remaining forms of school segregation affecting Roma children and to adopt a national strategy addressing discrimination against LGBTI people, among other recommendations.

ECRI has issued several reports on the Czech Republic over successive monitoring cycles going back to the early 2000s, so a reader locating an older edition of this document should check which cycle it belongs to; the Council of Europe publishes each cycle's report, along with the government's response where one is submitted, on its own site.
