Tech Devices & Apps for Seniors Statistics show seniors are increasingly embracing technology. There is a divide in use between younger and older adults, but seniors are seeing benefits of increased connection with loved ones, learning opportunities, and lifestyle enhancement through technology. 

Did you know? Blueberries are where it's at! This super fruit has the potential to lower the risk of heart disease and cancer, and help to improve memory and cognitive function in some older adults. In those with cognitive impairments, it may be more effective. In a study of 47 adults over age 68 who had mild cognitive impairment, a blueberry-consuming group (versus placebo-consuming) had improved memory and access to words and concepts, per a study cited in 2016 by the American Chemical Society, an organization chartered by U.S. Congress.

Margaret was born on March 11th, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up she enjoyed spending time with her father. They had a great time gardening and growing all sorts of things. She graduated from Royal Oaks High School in 1946. She then worked for the Royal Oaks School District as a secretary until she retired. Margaret was married for 49 years and has 4 children. She has a daughter whom she sees almost every day. She has 2 granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters. Margaret loves sports! She enjoys watching Baseball, Basketball, and Football. One of her interests has always been boats. She used to own one. Even now she still enjoys watching them. When asked what makes her happy she said, “Being alive!” Congratulations on being recognized as Resident of the Month!

Team Member of the Month! Crystal Marie Crystal was born in Salem, Oregon and has been living in Oregon all her life. She started working at Emerald Gardens in May 2008. She enjoys going to the movies with her family and friends. Her favorite movie genre is Horror. She loves Michael Myers! Crystal is the ultimate girly-girl! She likes to go shopping for clothes and makeup. Her favorite stores are Sephora, Ulta, and Nordstrom. She also loves to cook and dance. Crystal has been married for 12 years. She has two beautiful daughters. If she could do anything in the world she would take her family to Disneyland because they have never been there. She knows they would love it! Her favorite part about working at Emerald Gardens is making sure our resident’s look and feel beautiful! Crystal has a great time working with her day shift crew. She doesn’t mind picking up shifts because she knows she’s helping her team succeed! Congratulations on being Employee of the Month!
