 Social
Enterprise
Co‐ordinator

Ottawa
 4‐5
days
per
week

commensurate
with
experience

August,

some
flexibility
for
the
right
candidate



 The
Collaborative
for
Innovative
Social
Enterprise
Development
(CISED)
was
developed
to
 create
a
continuum
of
support
for
social
enterprise
in
the
city
of
Ottawa
through
access
to
 technical
expertise,
financing,
learning
communities,
training,
and
cross‐sector
partnerships.
 Since
2009,
CISED
has
supported
more
than
50
organizations
with
existing
social
enterprises
or
 those
considering
developing
a
social
enterprise.


 
 CISED
will
be
piloting
the
Enterprising
Non
Profits
(ENP)
model
in
the
fall
of
2011,
using
the
 widely
recognized
and
successful
model
from
British
Columbia
that
has
recently
expanded
to
 Alberta
and
Toronto.
 
 The
Causeway
Work
Centre
‐
an
organization
with
three
social
enterprises
and
a
range
of
 employment
and
educational
programs
‐
is
CISED’s
lead
agency.

There
are
seven
other
 members
of
the
collaborative
including
The
Ottawa
Community
Loan
Fund,
and
The
Carleton
 Centre
for
Community
Innovation.
 
 The
Social
Enterprise
Co‐ordinator
will
be
joining
an
ambitious
and
values
driven
team
at
the
 Causeway
Work
Centre
team,
and
will
play
a
supportive
role
in
the
further
development
of
 CISED,
and
the
ENP
Ottawa
pilot.

 
 Specific
Responsibilities
include:
 
 1) Sector
Building
 - Actively
seek
to
create
connections
between
social
enterprises
in
Ottawa
through
 networking
events
and
knowledge
brokering
 - Promote
social
enterprise
in
Ottawa
and
the
supports
CISED
provides
through
a
variety
 of
communication
tools
 - Increase
the
profile
and
capacity
of
the
social
enterprise
sector
by
partnering
with
other




organizations,
individuals,
and
the
private
sector

 Support
the
executive
team
at
Causeway
and
other
members
of
the
collaborative
to
 evaluate
CISED’s
&
ENP
Ottawa’s
impact



 2) Capacity
Building
 - Connect
organizations
to
specific
types
of
technical
assistance
(i.e.
marketing,
legal,
 financial)
when
required
 - Support
the
implementation
of
Social
Return
On
Investment
(SROI)
measurement
with
 mature
employment
based
social
enterprises
in
Ottawa
 - Develop
and
produce
events
that
are
of
interest
to
social
enterprise
(recent
events
 include
Crowdfunding
for
Social
Enterprise
and
Social
Return
on
Investment)
 - Develop
and
produce
one
large
event
every
year
that
increases
the
visibility
of
the
social
 enterprise
sector
in
Ottawa
 - Co‐ordinate
two
ENP‐Ottawa
workshops,
and
the
ENP
grant
review
process
 
 
 Ideal
Qualifications
 
 - University
or
college
degree
in
a
relevant
discipline,
or
equivalent
experience
 - 3‐5
years
of
experience
in
project
co‐ordination,
marketing,
or
sector
building
in
either
 the
for‐profit
or
non‐profit
sector
 - Experience
producing
events,
marketing,
and
social
media
 - Demonstrated
interest
in
the
growing
field
of
social
enterprise
 - Strong
relationships
in
the
non‐profit
sector
in
Ottawa
would
be
a
asset
 
 As
this
program
is
going
through
a
transition
we
are
willing
to
consider
non‐traditional
 applicants
and
welcome
those
who
do
not
meet
the
above
qualifications
but
who
believe
they
 have
the
capacity
to
support
social
enterprise
development
in
Ottawa.
