Entry Form Lighting for Building Performance Award This award recognises the lighting system or innovative lighting design that delivers the required illumination levels (on all relevant surfaces not just the working plane), outstanding lighting quality and working conditions for building users or occupants, and that most effectively demonstrates energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. It also recognises the importance of natural lightscapes within the built environment and their impact on energy consumption. Entries should be for lighting systems or innovative lighting designs first commissioned or launched between 1 June 2014 - 31 August 2016, and be accompanied by a full year of operational data and a minimum of 5 photographs illustrating the lighting installation. Entries can be for projects within the UK or overseas. Please complete the form below. The headings reflect the judging criteria and the judges will be looking for you to provide the relevant information under each heading.

Entry criteria Please outline how your entry meets each of the criteria. Judges will be looking for information in each of the sections when assessing the entries. Entries which do not clearly address all the criteria are unlikely to score highly. Documents, charts or photos should be referenced and included in your supporting documents. 1. Provide a summary of the design brief and how this was met, and appropriateness of the lighting system or design for the intended application(s). Word count guide: 200 – 300

2. Provide a summary of design intent and how the scheme fulfils this while minimising carbon emissions; include justification for any key decisions, such as the energy and carbon cost of scrapping existing luminaires from an existing installation, where relevant. Word count guide: 200 – 300

3. Provide evidence of improvement over typical existing systems or designs in terms of performance, energy efficiency and carbon saving, showing evidence of performance in practical operation as well as factory or laboratory test results. Word count guide: 200 – 300

4. Provide one year’s evidence of energy use data for the lighting system. Ideally an itemised report from the lighting management system, or the lighting component of a DEC or EPC.

5. Provide a summary of innovation in design, technology and/or application. Word count guide: 200 – 300

6. Detail any research and development carried out. Word count guide: 200 – 300

7. Production and recycling – demonstrate any measures to mitigate the environmental impact of production and use of recycled materials and recyclability. Word count guide: 200 – 300

8. Provide evidence of clear technical information, explaining the system for installers and operators. Also provide evidence of engagement with installers and users to ensure the system is effectively delivered, used and is simple for end users to operate and maintain. Word count guide: 200 – 300
