EPIDEMIOLOGY, BIOSTATISTICS AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH – ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (RESEARCH) – GLOBAL HEALTH

McGill University is one of Canada’s leading universities, and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is home to one of the largest concentrations of faculty with expertise in population health, public health, epidemiology and biostatistics in Canada. The Department offers a vibrant research environment and is one of the top academic units in its field in the world. Global health is a priority for the McGill Faculty of Medicine. The Global Health Programs of the Faculty of Medicine is committed to improving global health through educational, clinical, developmental and research programs that link McGill faculty and students with colleagues throughout Canada and the world in collaborative projects. The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, in collaboration with McGill Global Health Programs, invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Global Public Health [Research Track]. Candidates must have a doctorate in a public health field and relevant research experience in global health (in addition, a MPH degree is desirable). Experience in infectious diseases research (e.g. TB, HIV) is also desirable. Necessary qualifications for the position include evidence of research productivity (peer-reviewed publications); three or more years of experience working with global health projects, especially in low and middle income countries; and teaching experience, particularly in qualitative methods and social/behavioural research. Field experience in Africa and Asia is desirable. A demonstrated ability to obtain grants/fellowships for their own research and to contribute to the building of successful research projects or programs is a desirable requirement. Excellent written a n d o r a l communication skills are essential. Candidates must also demonstrate team spirit and collegiality, both in developing their own research and mentoring/supervising less experienced investigators. In addition to research, the candidate is expected to contribute to the coordination of the McGill Global Health Programs and help co-teach courses in global health and qualitative research methods. The candidate will be expected to teach graduate level students (e.g. MSc Public Health).
