MAXIMIZE THE EFFICIENCY OF DELIVERY Ericsson’s market leading Content Distribution Systems are deployed in hundreds of locations delivering thousands of services for broadcasters, content owners and service providers around the world. These systems are designed specifically to deliver the maximum number of services in the lowest bandwidth without compromising content value, using the most efficient transmission technology to a large number of receive sites. These are typically cable head ends, satellite uplinks or transmitter sites. With the cost of transponder space remaining at a premium, systems must deliver OPEX savings and Ericsson’s systems are designed to meet those needs, delivering more services in less bandwidth using advanced compression and transmission technologies. A powerful compression engine lies at the heart of our Content Distribution systems using Ericsson’s unique silicon technology based on over 20 years video compression expertise. Our latest systems support the recently ratified DVB standard DVB-S2X that delivers up to 20% transmission efficiency when compared to the older DVB-S2 standard. Shortly our systems will be supporting the new HEVC compression standard that will offer even greater efficiencies. Products and Services The core of Ericsson’s Content Distribution solution consists of a range of best of breed products from its Video Processor, Multiplexer and Integrated Receiver Decoder product families, as well as services such as implementation and 24/7 monitoring and support from the Compression Services organization throughout the globe. For larger systems that require more than just compression equipment, Ericsson Prime Services are able to deliver a complete end-to-end solution including buildings and infrastructure, systems integration and full support even for third party equipment. AVP 4000 System Encoder Using Ericsson’s own unique chip, the AVP 4000 System Encoder design delivers powerful performance, maximizing compression efficiency without compromising video quality. The Ericsson chip, builds on two decades of market leadership in encoding algorithms and techniques, delivering outstanding picture quality at HD and SD, in both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC. Codecs and resolutions can be upgraded via software, removing the need for complex hardware changes. As the chip is multi-codec, multi-profile and multi resolution, it offers both encoding and transcoding that ensures that AVP 4000 delivers levels of quality, performance and operational flexibility, not found in conventional encoding products. A compact 1RU form factor offers up to six hot swappable option slots, for combinations of encoding and auxiliary modules. Dual power supplies protect services and an on-board video monitor gives instant operator feedback.
RX8200 The RX8200 Receiver builds on the success of our previous generation’s receivers complementing all the advanced features available on the AVP 4000 Encoder including Phase Aligned Audio (PAA) for systems demanding cost effective delivery of advanced audio formats. With a range of physical interfaces available, including ASI, DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-S2X and GigE IP, it is able to operate across all modern network infrastructures. Using the latest build version of the unit it is able to support all main compression formats, including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, JPEG 2000, in a single unit making the RX8200 the most flexible receiver

nCompass nCompass Control has been designed for static systems requiring a simple easy to use management tool that controls and monitors the configuration and performance of the compression system. It supports a range of products including Encoders, Multiplexers, Receivers and Modulators with third party ECM/EMM generators and switches. nCompass Control is a proven solution and is used by broadcasters and service providers throughout the world managing thousands of services in hundreds of systems. nCompass Director is an option of nCompass Control, delivering powerful encryption to protect valuable content such as sports feeds, music concerts and general content in high definition. Developed specifically for the primary distribution market nCompass Director manages, controls and supports over air upgrades for Ericsson’s market leading receivers designed for highquality contribution and distribution services, including the latest RX8000 series. Built for mission-critical, realtime SD and HD content delivery, nCompass Director’s GUI allows for a single system view of the entire receiver population, enabling operators to forward schedule or make changes on the fly to protect and secure their video content.

M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator Ericsson M6100 Modulator is ideal for applications demanding the greatest transmission efficiency as it can deliver up to 20% gains using its latest DVB-S2X technology, when compared to the previous DVB-S2 standard for general contribution and distribution applications. Housed in a compact 1RU chassis the Modulator supports both ASI and GigE IP interfaces and when combined with the RX8200 delivers a simple and effective means for distributing up to 20Mbit/s of encapsulated data. The M6100 is supported by nCompass control for systems. Services The Ericsson Content Distribution solution is unique in the market by pairing the most technologically advanced products with best-in-class global services.
