Evacuation Orders for West of Eagan Lake, Sharpe Lake, and Deadman-Vidette Areas Rescinded Effective Immediately For Immediate Release (September 11, 2017 – 7:00 p.m.): While the Elephant Hill Wildfire remains active in some areas of the Thompson-Nicola region, the imminent threat posed by the fire has currently diminished to the point that property owners West of Eagan Lake, and in the Sharpe Lake and Deadman-Vidette areas can return to their properties effective immediately. A map of the areas that are being downgraded from Order to Alert are attached. The specific addresses that are no longer on Evacuation Order are: West of Eagan Lake • 6385 & 7665 Eagan Lake Road Sharpe Lake Area

Deadman-Vidette Area • 7888, 8396 Clinton-Upper Loon Lake FSR • 7824 to 10020 Deadman-Vidette Road Residents are reminded that these areas remain on Evacuation Alert. While the Elephant Hill Wildfire remains active, residents need to stay vigilant and must be prepared to leave at any time. Residents will be given as much advance warning as possible prior to an evacuation; however at times only limited notice can be provided due to changing conditions. There are areas within the TNRD that remain on Evacuation Order, so travel remains limited in these areas. The areas that remain on Evacuation Order will continue to be reviewed regularly. A re-entry package is available to residents that provides important information to be aware of when returning home after an extended evacuation. This re-entry package can be found on the tnrd.ca website on the TNRD Emergency Information page under the Information - While Evacuated and Returning Home heading. To support residents from in cleaning up upon return, tipping fees will be waived for the disposal of spoiled food. Residents can take spoiled food to their nearest Transfer Station for disposal at no cost. Residents that opt to dispose of fridges and freezers if there have been any extended power outages, should call the TNRD Environmental Services Department at 1.877.377.867 for information on disposal of these appliances.
