Evicted:

Poverty and Profit in the American City By Matthew Desmond Thursday, March 3, 2016 6:00 PM NYE Conference Center Taubman Building | 5th Floor John F. Kennedy School of Government Harvard University 79 JFK Street Cambridge, Massachusetts This event is open to the public. Join us for this week’s launch of “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” with author Matthew Desmond, John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences, Co-director of the Center's Justice and Poverty Project, and 2015 MacArthur Fellow. Evictions used to be rare enough to draw crowds. But today, for many poor Americans eviction has become a way of life. “Evicted” documents the human toll of this crisis, showing that without stable housing, everything else falls apart.

Desmond will be joined by a panel, moderated by Bruce Western, Director of the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy, featuring: William Julius Wilson, Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor, Harvard University; Xavier de Souza Briggs, Vice President, Economic Opportunity and Markets, Ford Foundation; and Jennifer Gonnerman, Staff Writer, The New Yorker.
