1. INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME BY THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY Greetings and warm welcome to the Faculty of Commerce and Administration! First year students (congratulations on passing your NSC Exams), returning students, new staff members and returning staff of the Mthatha Campus, let’s all work as a team for the benefit of our community, our province and our country. The Faculty has a tradition of producing professionals for the business world in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and Southern Africa. Some of the finest and accomplished minds were nurtured and moulded in this Faculty. That tradition is consistent with the Faculty’s vision of excelling in the empowerment of those who join us to study here. Students who successfully complete their studies, leave well-equipped to face the dynamic business environment in their chosen disciplines. This Faculty does not only impart relevant, quality and appropriate knowledge to its students, but it also inculcates in them a notion of life-long learning because of the dynamics and challenges in the business world.
