Faculty of Social Sciences Department of Anthropology University of Victoria .75 Assistant Teaching Professor 2016-17 Limited Term Appointment in Biological and Archaeological Anthropology The Department of Anthropology, University of Victoria, invites applications for a .75 Limited Term Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in the areas of biological and archaeological anthropology. Within biological anthropology, we welcome a focus on human evolutionary biology or ecology. Within anthropological archaeology, we seek someone to teach courses that complement departmental expertise. The appointment comes with an obligation to teach a total of six (1.5 unit) courses. The distribution of courses across Summer, Fall and Spring term is negotiable. We seek a dynamic instructor who has completed the PhD (or is ABD) and has the requisite background to teach courses in the scholar’s area of regional, topical or methodological specialization. We particularly seek an individual who can offer courses on Human Origins (ANTH 351), those with a strong method and theory component (ANTH 395, 485), as well as courses in their own areas of specialization to fulfill major requirements for our undergraduate students (see Anthropology Website). The ability to teach an introductory course in biological anthropology (ANTH 250) or archaeology (ANTH 240) would be an asset. The full list of the departments’ courses can be found in the Calendar. Applicants should send syllabi of courses they would be interested in teaching, and a teaching dossier/portfolio that provides evidence of successful university-level teaching. Application materials, including a cover letter and CV, as well as the names and contact information of three referees should be received not later than 5 PM PST on Friday January 29, 2016.
