Diary Dates April Mon 16th First day of Summer term No clubs this week th Tues 17 Sycamore & Chestnut trip to Easton College Thur 26th KS1 Multiskills competition Oak & Sycamore Classes cake sale after school Before School Many parents will have noticed we have a second member of staff on the gate before school. This is following an incident when a pupil wandered back out of school to look for their parent. In order to ensure such an incident does not occur again we would ask that parents say goodbye to their children and leave the playground promptly as the bell for the start of school rings. This will enable us to lock the front gate at 9:00 keeping children safe and allowing staff to return to their duties in school. It is, of course, important that children are on the school playground before 08:55. The number of children arriving after the school bell is concerning. Our staff are in school well before the start of school in order to prepare for the day ahead. This is a very busy part of the day. If you wish to speak to a member of staff please let the office know so they can check whether the member of staff is available. Failing that the office will always pass messages onto class teachers. Before and After School Care Following a request from a parent we have been carrying out a survey to find out how many parents would use before or after school care on a regular basis. In the past there has not been sufficient interest to make this financially viable, particularly as any provision would most likely have to be run by an outside provider. Thank you to everyone who completed a questionnaire at parents evening, we are collating all of the information received to ascertain if we have

enough demand. We will then investigate what the best option will be. Samba Performance Our Year 3 & 4 children enjoyed their Samba performance to parents last week. After two terms of lessons they showed themselves to be very proficient at playing the instruments and more importantly, keeping time. Thank you to Mr Taylor, the Samba teacher, for preparing the children for this event. Visiting Musicians We have been very lucky to have a group of musicians from the Norfolk Music Service to work with the children on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The children learnt about the instruments and how sound is made. They also got to play the instruments the musicians had brought with them. Yesterday each class composed a piece of music inspired by a painting or collage that

related to the topic they have been working on this term. We are very grateful to Mrs Brocklehurst for arranging this for us and pursuing the grant to fund it. Midday Supervisor Vacancy We have a vacancy for a Midday Supervisor for the children starting in May. The post is for around an hour and a half each day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and pays £7.78 per hour. Please pop into the office if you would like more information.

KS1 Football Skills Festival

On the Monday, six Key Stage 1 children took part in a football festival against other children from across the Acle Cluster. They enjoyed doing timed events including dribbling, shooting, throw ins, running and passing! Each of the activities were completed with excellent enthusiasm and great friendship, it was lovely to see them compete! Overall, the children came in fourth position and although they didn’t win a medal, took a lot from the experience!
