For those days when the kids are out of school and need something fun to do we are offering special programs to do just that and keep you sane. On the off days bring them to Whittemore for a Kids Fun Day, where we will explore outside, complete crafts, play games, and stay out of trouble. Space is limited so please pre-register. Wee Walkers

Ages 1 & up with an adult 10-11am $9 per session or $50 for all 7 sessions Explore nature and discover the basics during this fun and entertaining nature series just for the wee ones. We will engage the senses and expand the horizons. Attend as many sessions as you like, fee is per child. A parent or adult must accompany children on the program. Program will last for 45 minutes to 1 hour based on the children’s attention span and the weather. Need a night away? Bring the kids to us for a 3 hour break. We will play nature related games, do crafts, play outside, read books, watch movies, gaze at the stars, eat snacks and just have fun in this more relaxed atmosphere designed to give you some time. Free Monthly Activity Sheet Pick up your activity sheet each month from the Bulletin Board next to the center or print if off from our website. Activities may include a scavenger hunt, word games, pictures, etc. Complete all the activities and return it to the center drop box (silver, next to the door) or mail it in by the end of each month to claim your prize. Activities will be variable for ages 3-10.

Group Programs We offer group programs for scouts, schools, birthday parties, meet up groups, clubs and friends. Programs are geared toward meeting the group’s goals and are written specifically for that one time program. Topics include but are not limited to:

Survivalist Weekend

Can you survive the Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary’s Challenge? Come Saturday morning prepared to camp and survive the elements until Sunday at noon. Celebrate Fall

Saturday October 12 10am-3pm Free Family Fun We have fall nature walks, scarecrow making, contests, pumpkins from GROW, apple bobbing, acorn tosses, popcorn catching, and much more. Come anytime, donations are accepted. Watch the website for more details.

Holiday Gift Certificates Available Purchase gift certificates good for any program or special event offered at the Roving Nature Center. They make great gifts for Holidays, Birthdays, or even for an annaversary to a Parent’s Night Out. Purchase can be made by contacting Joy Logan at [email protected]

Winter Wonderland

Sunday December 8 1-3pm All Ages $10 per child, parents attend free Come out for another exciting year of holiday fun at Whittemore. We will have cookies with Mrs. Claus, stories by the fire, hot cider and chocolate, bird feeder crafts, gift and card creation, and a winter wildlife walk at 3pm back to the parking lot. Preregistration encouraged by not requited.

Pickin’ Party November 23 1-3pm

Volunteer your time to pick greenery and pine cones for the Friends of Whittemore’s annual wreath sale. This is an event for ages 14 and over. Childcare will be provided free of charge to adult volunteers. Thank you for helping.

Holiday Wreath & Decoration Sale This anticipated annual sale is almost here. Pre-order yours right away by emailing [email protected] of sending in the form found at www.whittemorewildlife. org. Wreaths can be ready for delivery as early as December 1. The price of the wreaths is $30. The centerpieces are $15, 25 & 30 (single taper, pillar candle & double tapers) and the boxwood trees (undecorated) are $25.

Recycle Sale

Art Exhibit

Save your unwanted items for our first ever recycle sale in the spring. Donations will be accepted beginning February 3, 2014. The Recycle sale will be held the last weekend of March. Items not sold at the sale will be re-donated to local charities and non-profits organizations. So plan to bring your goods before the sale and shop the day of. All proceeds will go to support the Friends of Whittemore and The Roving Nature Center’s environmental educational efforts.

Look for our Art Exhibit focusing on the natural environment coming the end of January. We are currently looking for artists of all ages and talents to show their work. If you would like to display your pieces please contact [email protected]. This event will be free for the public to attend, donations will be accepted.
