Family Safari – 9 day Uganda stands in a unique position compared to all of Africa in regards to wildlife. Many nations boast of lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards. The Uganda safari will give you all that and more—gorillas and chimpanzees. Uganda is also a birder’s paradise; it has more than half the total species recorded in Africa and has more birds per square kilometre than any African country. This rare wildlife safari experience in the Pearl of Africa will not be found anywhere else in Africa.

Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park Drive north westwards through the famous Luwero triangle with a stopover at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. We will continue through the park stopping at the top of the falls, which is a fantastic sight. Here the Nile, the longest river in the world, is forced through a narrow gap in the rock (only 7 meters wide), before ferociously plunging down 43 meters. From here, we will continue on, taking a ferry across the river to Paraa Safari Lodge. Dinner and overnight at your lodge Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park Embark on an early morning game drive with your guide and expect to see where you will see lions, elephants, Rothschild’s giraffes, Cape buffalo, warthogs, Jackson’s hartebeests, bushbucks

and many other animals and return to the lodge for a late breakfast. In the afternoon, proceed on a 3-hour boat ride on the Nile where you will view the Nile Crocodile, hippos, elephants and a number of bird species including kingfishers, cormorants, the rare shoebill stork, Egyptian geese and Hornbills among others. Dinner and Overnight at your Safari Lodge. Day 3: Travel through Albertine Rift to Fort Portal Drive via the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift valley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort portal road. This will be a long drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal, passing though verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the Fabled "Mountains of the Moon". Dinner and overnight at your safari Lodge. Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking - Kibale Forest In the morning, you will have breakfast before moving to Kibale Head quarters for briefing. Thereafter you will set off for a forest walk in search for chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information on chimpanzees, primates and small organisms. During the walk, you should be able to see other primates like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Vervet monkeys and the Black/White Colobus monkeys. After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and take a guided walk around the swamp. This walk will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge. Day 5: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park After breakfast, drive out to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. Along the way, you will view Buffalos, Elephants, Uganda Kob, Waterbucks, Bushbucks and many other animals. After lunch, proceed on a two-hour boat ride on the Kazinga channel, which is said to contain the world's largest concentration of hippos. Expect to see hippos, elephants, buffalos, Nile crocodile and several bird species including Pied Kingfishers, Malachite, Great and Long-Tailed Cormorants and Open-Billed Stork. The park is known to have more than 600 different bird species. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park A very early morning game drive along the Kasenyi track provides excellent opportunities to see Lions, Buffalos, Topi, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, and warthogs among other animals. Return to your lodge and have a late breakfast before proceeding to Bwindi via Maramagambo and Ishasha sector a place famous for the tree-climbing lions. On your journey, you will view waterbucks, Topi, buffalos, Uganda Kobs, warthogs and a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge Day 7: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Have an early breakfast and get a morning briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. You are required to have appropriate gear (rain jacket, jungle boots) for the trekking and a packed lunch and water. If you are lucky, the trekking will take a few hours, otherwise, it will

take a big portion of the day. You will be able to enjoy an amazing view of the silverback in its natural habitat. In the afternoon, you will proceed on a village walk in Buhoma an area surrounding the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The Walk begins with your guide at Buhoma Community Rest Camp and it will give you chance to understand the local communities and how they have adopted to their environment. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge. Day 8: Lake Mburo National Park After an early breakfast, drive out to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch, proceed on an afternoon game drive along the lakeshore track. Guided lakeside walks are possible; expect to see Zebras, Impalas, Buffalos and Topi. Proceed on a boat ride on Lake Mburo, and also enjoy bird watching in this park that is known to have more than 250 bird species including the rare shoebill, crested crane, Papyrus Gonoleks, Brown-faced Lapwings, pelicans, fish eagle, heron and many water birds. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge. Day 9: Return to Kampala Drive to Kampala after breakfast and make a stopover at Mpambire to see the royal drum makers using skills passed down over many generations and the equator for a photo shoot.
