Frequently Asked Questions I've heard that official community moderators attend a training. Do I need to attend one too?

While it is not a requirement, we strongly encourage you to email us to attend a training.

What should I call the Google+ Community?

To make it easier for others to find and join your community, we suggest “[Your CITY/COUNTRY Name] Local Guides.”

What image should I use?

We suggest using a high-res image that best represents your city. We encourage you to design the image as you see fit, being sure you have the rights to use that image (you’ve taken it yourself, purchased it, or received permission from the photographer). The recommended dimensions are 960x450 pixels and 72dpi.

What should I write in the bio section?

This is the unofficial community for #LocalGuides in [CITY/COUNTRY]. Local Guides, an official Google program, is a global community of explorers who seek out and celebrate local experiences. Through the reviews you write and photos you add on Google, you help others feel at home in the world, anywhere they go. To become a Local Guide, sign up at g.co/LocalGuides, then go out and explore! This community is for those interested in and active in the Local Guides program and where passionate [CITY/COUNTRY] residents share about the local community by way of local dining experiences, hidden local businesses, and more. For questions about the Local Guides program, visit the official Help Center.

Do’s and Don’ts

DON’T

DO • Create a public, not private community. • Reshare posts by Local Guides or Google Maps when you think your community will find them interesting. • Share photos with posts, but be sure you have permission to share the photos and/or provide photo credit.

• Participate regularly by chiming in on discussions, +1ing posts, and encouraging people to meet offline.

• Use the Local Guides logo on imagery for which you do not own the rights.

• Moderate the community regularly for spam posts as when newcomers visit your community, you want them to feel welcomed, not spammed.

• Allow or post promotional posts of any kind. When in doubt, please refer to the Local Guides private community guidelines.
