FASNA Training Seminars FASNA provide a wide variety of bespoke and surgery type training for your school, trust, MAT or area and region We provide seminars on:

Academy Conversion Academy Conversion – first steps o Helping you with the first stages of academy conversion – MAT models, legal processes, changes in roles and responsibilities of governors Forming and growing a MAT o Reviews of different MAT models, effective and accountable governance, financial and other challenges

Governance Induction/refresher sessions for all involved in governance including members, trustees and local governors o Covering the statutory functions of governance, essential and desirable skills and experience needed to evidence effective and accountable governance Reviews of governance – both pre and post Ofsted o Self-determined reviews will help evidence that your governing body has appropriately skilled members, a suitable structure of activity and is engaging in self-evaluation and impact analysis o A post-Ofsted recommended review is a more bespoke and in-depth analysis to support your governing body in improving effective governance and continuing professional development The roles and responsibilities of the clerk to governors o Includes an assessment of the focus of the clerk in the current educational climate; the role and key responsibilities of the clerk and how to support effectively those responsible for governance

Finance Curriculum-led financial planning o With increasing funding pressures, this seminar focuses on the key budget decisions and the potential impact on curriculum provision, management structures, services and support arrangements

Admissions School admissions – the law, the codes and the good practice o Provides a good understanding of the legal framework and the current Code of Practice, hints on writing an admission policy, information about the co-ordinated process and a clear understanding of the Fair Access Protocol and the LA role in some admissions Admissions appeals o Mandatory training for clerks and panel members in the latest Admission Appeals Code, the role of the clerk and panel members, the appeal procedure and conduct of the hearing, preparing and presenting the school's case and decision making exercises

FASNA is a national forum for self-governing primary, secondary and special schools, academies and multi-academy trusts. It is a charity and the only ‘not for profit’ national school membership organisation that expressly represents the interests and views of all self-governing schools. FASNA promotes autonomy for schools enabling them to raise standards for students, believing that autonomous schools are the best vehicle to support creative leadership and school strategies that respond to the needs of the local community.
