WELCOME TO OUTLOOK 2013!

With Outlook just about to be entering its 6th year running, we cannot wait to commence another beautiful Croatian summer, opening the fort gates to over 10,000 revelers for 4 nights and days of music, beach and sunshine. Over the past 6 years the festival has grown and welded itself to new heights and we believe this year we’re set for yet another spellbinding and unique experience that we are honoured to share with a universal mix of likeminded individual’s. Our festival is held in the beautiful site of Fort Punta Christo, Pula. This stunning location is an abandoned fort built in the eighteen hundreds, a spectacular atmospheric venue located on a peninsular and surrounded by the crystal waters of the Adriatic. The beautiful beach, intimate boat parties and the dramatic fort itself providing a platform for the wide range of artists from the varied world of soundsystem culture which we have brought together for what should be a magical weekend. Officially taking over the site from Thursday 29th of August right through until the early morning of Monday the 2nd September, but with pre-parties, the Opening Concert and post-festival boat parties, this years Outlook looks set to be the best yet. So as our anticipation rises for what should be a wonderful week of sunshine, smiling faces and great music we’ve prepared this helpful document of information that should help you in planning your stay and travel here. Looking forward to meeting you all, we hope you are getting as excited as we are. Love & happiness from the Outlook Team.

Additional tickets may be available for some of the boats, these can be purchased from the Box Office located by Wristband Exchange or from the Harbour where the boats depart.

3.3 AROUND THE FESTIVAL SITE Customer Information We have customer information points situated at both the Customer Village and up at the Fort which will both be open 24/7 if you have any questions, need some help or just fancy a chat. There will be updated information at these points on line ups or any other relevant news that we feel you guys might need to know. These points will also be in charge of lost property, and also the pick up of any tents that have been booked pre-event. Please be aware that the majority of staff and volunteers across site will only know the answers to the areas they are looking after, it is always advised that you check-in with the Customer Info Points instead to ensure you are receiveing the most up-to-date information regarding your query.

Medical & Welfare Medical & Welfare will be in three locations throughout the site; the Fort, Harbour & Customer Village, and open 24 hours a day throughout the festival. They will operate throughout the festival, dealing with all major & minor injuries and providing information on enjoying yourself without potential harmful effects. This is to ensure that people are kept safe and happy without a trip to the local hospital. Staff will have information on; health risks, recreational drug use and consumption, sexual education & hearing risks. Any personal issues or emotional support needed will also be assisted to. If you do need to go to hospital please ensure you, or a friend, retrieves your passport/ID or a scan of it before leaving site as you will need this with you.

Lost Property Lost property is handled by Customer Information at the Customer Village. If you have lost an item please head there so we can register it in our system. We will attempt to contact you if the item is found but this may not always be possible so please do check back with Lost Property around 24 hours after you have reported it. Please note we cannot transport or send lost proprty items over country borders, for this reason we are not able to return items once the festival has finished. Before leaving site check you have everything with you, if you find there’s something missing please check in with Customer Info in case it’s made it’s way back to us. If you find an item please hand in to either Customer Information point or a staff member on site – think of others and the good karma that goes with this sort of deed!

Tent Rental/ Purchase If you have pre-booked a tent you will need to print and bring your ticket with you to the Customer Information Point at the Customer Village. If you have rented, or are going to rent, a 2-man Tent and wish to return it for the £10 hire deposit please ensure you pack your tent properly (with all items included) and return it to the Customer Information Point by midday 11th September latest. All confirmed returns will receive their refund by 30th September back in to the account you paid with. If you are not partaking in the hire scheme please either take your tent home with you, or leave at one of the charity drop-off points; help us keep the campsite clean and tidy.

Secure Storage When you arrive at Outlook festival, take time to think about how you will keep your belongings safe once on site. Tents are, by their nature, not very secure and if you are spending a lot of time wandering around the festival, then your tent will spend a lot of time alone. Limit the number of valuables you bring with you or leave them in one of our Secure Storage Lockers, which are staffed 24 hours a day and located at the Customer Village.

DAILY RENTAL – 50kn 3-DAY RENTAL – 150kn THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVAL/YOUR STAY – 200kn

Tokens Outlook festival bars & stalls all use a token system. Using tokens at the bar you’ll notice the service is much quicker. The easily recognisable sizes and colours allow both staff and customers to quickly pick out the right change. We also utilise the token system to ensure accurate accounting. For this reason we cannot refund any over-bought tokens so we advise buying a reasonable amount to begin with and re-stocking when required throughout the festival. You can purcahse tokens with either cash (Kuna) or by card at token exhcnage points, dotted around the festival site.Tokens will be available in denominations of 30 Kuna, 10 Kuna and 5 Kuna.

Food and Drink We have a great selection of food choices for this year’s festival which includes choices for veggies and vegans too. Ranging from Mexican and Lebanese to burgers and pizza there’s a great selection ready to both quench your huner and tick off a couple of your 5 a day. Food stalls are located on the campsite, by the Beach Arena, at the Clearing, Harbour and up at the Fort. The festival bars serve a large variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Please drink responsibly, and remember to keep hydrated throughout the day and night. You may bring your own food and drink (but not glass) in to the campsite but not the festival site.

Internet Internet, provided by Netbox, is available at two locations, both the campsite and Customer Village. Both internet points are open 08:30am -11:00pm every day, with prices starting at 20kn for 30 minutes. Other services offered include printing and charging of phones, cameras and gadgets.

Merchandise We’ve got a selection of both branded and non-branded items for sale at our Merchandise stalls, including some exciting collabs with brands such as Majestic Athletic, New Era and Kucchia Clothing.   We only have a limited amount of stock so be sure to pay the stalls a visit early on to avoid disappointment!

Driving to Outlook Festival GETTING THERE - Ensure you know how to get to the festival site, print out a map or borrow a GPS.

PETROL - Dont forget to fill the tank! DRIVE IN SHIFTS - If there are a group of you going by car, make sure to divide up the driving shifts so one person isn’t a complete zombie.

VALUABLES - Do not leave valuables in the car, and ensure you lock both the doors and boot. We have safety lockers on-site available to hire.

LIFTS - If you don’t have a full car, check gocarshare.com/festival/outlook-festival. There are always people looking for a lift to the festival. It’s a great way to help the environment and meet other like-minded souls, plus a contribution to petrol is always helpful.

Car Hire in Croatia Renting a car in Croatia is easy, but perhaps on the pricey side. Major car hire chains exist in Croatia, as do local companies. Most have offices in the larger Croatian towns and airports. Here are some helpful facts about renting a car in Croatia. Drivers must be 21 years of age with a full valid licence for a minimum of two years. To rent a car your current passport/ national identity card and a credit card must be presented. Basic insurance is included in the price of hire but it is advised that customers also purchase the Collision Damage Waiver & Theft Protection insurance for the duration of hire. Any incidents must be reported to the Croatian police (112) or else the insurance is treated as void. If you need roadside assistance, the Croatian Auto Club Emergency Service will help you. Their telephone number is 00385 91 320.

By Train Although trains to Pula are infequent they are a great way to travel towards Croatia. Sites like www.Eurorailways.com and www.raileurope.co.uk provide a train route directly to Zagreb from across Europe. www.hznet.hr is the Croatian Railways site for those wanting to see the country and reiseauskunft. bahn.de is a useful site for booking trains both to Croatia and within. Once you have arrived to Zagreb, or a neighbouring country such as Italy, we suggest catching a bus from thereon.

By Public Bus If you’re looking to make your own way from your arrival airport, or fancy a bit of site-seeing on route to the festival there are a number of websites to help plan your journey. Each cater to and from specific destinations, so depending on where you want to go, you should be covered by these;

WWW.CROATIABUS.HR (Various domestic routes) WWW.VELEBIT-TOURS.HR (Operates a route between Zagreb & Zadar) WWW.SKREB-PRIJEVOZ.COM (Routes from Zagreb to Rijeka, Sibenik & Split) Please be aware its not possible to book bus tickets online, only at bus stations. Nevertheless, try and buy your bus tickets for your intended journey (from the bus station) earlier than when you actually travel, the day before for example. This will save you time and hassle on the day, and you’ll know for sure that you’ve got a space on the bus you want to be on. As for luggage, you will be expected to pay around 6-7 Kuna on arrival, please hold on to the receipt you will be given. Once in Pula the 5a runs reguarly between the city bus station and festival site.

You should ALWAYS ask for a receipt, it is a legal requirement. If you do not ask for one, or the taxi driver does not give you one you could both be liable for a fine from the inspectors. If you feel you have been overcharged by a taxi with a green window pass, or they will not issue you with a receipt, please report it to our staff at the drop-off point. We will be monitoring all taxi’s with access to this restricted area, and will revoke that access for any taxi’s that do not act in our customers best interests. Watch out for illegal taxi’s – although they may be cheaper they are not regulated by the city and you might be putting yourself in unnecessary danger. If you have a complaint about an illegal taxi you will need to talk to the police.

Arena Concert Boats Quick and easy transport from the Harbour Stage on the festival site direct to the port in the City of Pula, just two minutes walk from the Amphitheatre. Enjoy a beer whilst taking the scenic route across the water in to Pula for this amazing concert. The local bus (5a) heads to Pula from the campsite, however it won’t be running by the time the concert finishes so you’ll need to get a taxi. The boat is cheaper as a return journey than that will work out. You can book your boat ticket on site or pre-book here; http://bit.ly/OutlookBoatTravel

5.4 GETTING HOME Remember to pick-up your passport from your accommodation before embarking on your journey home. If staying at the campsite there can be queues at peak times so please allow plenty of time.

By Airport Transfer Please head to the coach pick up point 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time. We advise you double check you are boarding the correct bus as there will be a number of coaches all heading out to different airports at the same time.

By Sunshine Bus All Sunsine Buses depart at 10am on Tuesday 3rd September, from the same place you were dropped off at. Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis so if you’re looking to sit together it is advised you also arrive together. It is imperative the coaches leave on time to ensure the ferry time is not missed, buses will not wait for late arrivals. If you have any questions please email [email protected]

6. LOCAL INFO

6.1 EXCURSIONS: For the days of rest before and after Outlook this year we have decided to throw some chilled out full-day and half-day trips to explore the beautiful scenery that surrounds our festival site. Through taking you off the campsite, out of the fort walls, and into the natural beauty of the countries nearby national parks and coastlines, you can expect to catch a breath away from the energy packed dance-floors. Set yourself a day to unwind and experience a different side of the country that before now you may not have realised was out there. Perfect for anyone locked in for both festivals, or all that have got a couple days to fill around the madness of Outlook!

Plitvice Lakes National Park Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. The national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The protected area extends over 296.85 square kilometres (73,350 acres).  In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register among the first natural sites worldwide. Each year, more than 1,200,000 visitors are recorded. The national park is world famous for its lakes arranged in cascades. The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. DATES: Tuesday 3rd September PRICE: €78 DEPARTS CAMPSITE: 07:30 RETURNS CAMPSITE: 22:00 INCLUDES: Return coach travel with an English speaking guide, entrance to the National Park Plitvice, and a three-course lunch.

Cape Kamenjak The peninsula of Kamenjak, a wonder of nature’s architecture, is situated at the South of Istria, near to a site called Premantura. More than half a million visitors per year visit. Most of them return to re-explore the enchanting beauties and the positive energy of such a unique area. Carpeted with wiry heath plants and criss-crossed by dirt tracks, the peninsula is a protected nature reserve and remains almost totally undeveloped. On the west is a 2.5-mile stretch of pebbly bays broken up by naturally-occurring terraces of slab-like stone. Whilst the Eastern side presents a host of secluded bathing spots lurking behind a strip of pine forest. On the southern tip the rustic-beachhut Safari Bar serves up a nice selection of cocktails, snacks and meals, alongside secluded seating and playground rides. DATES: Wednesday 28th August // Wednesday 4th September PRICE: €23 DEPARTS CAMPSITE: 10:00 RETURNS CAMPSITE: 17:00 INCLUDES: Return coach travel, and entry to Kamenjak.

Brijuni Islands The Brijuni Islands are a group of fourteen small islands located just a stones throw from the festival site. The archipelago of Brijuni is an extraordinary blend of natural, historical and cultural heritage. The mild climate and the favourable geographical conditions, deep retracted bays and easily defendable elevated fortifications, have secured a continuum in the human activity on the island from a pre-historic age until the present day. DATES: Tuesday 3rd September PRICE: €35 DEPARTS CAMPSITE: 12:30 RETURNS CAMPSITE: 18:00 INCLUDES: Bus transfer to Fazana, boat ride to the islands, entrance to National Park Brioni, landtrain with audio guide, and entrance to Tito’s museum. 6.2 GENERAL INFORMATION Electricity is 220V, 50Hz. Croatia uses the standard European 2 round point plugs. The weights and measures system is metric. Croatia is 1 hour ahead of BST, the same time zone as the majority of Western Europe. The dialing code for Croatia is +385.

6.3 PAYPHONES & MOBILES Payphones are dotted all around Pula. You’ll need a phone card to use the payphones, which are available to buy at any post office, tobacco shops and newspaper kiosks. They are sold in units of 25(15kn), 50 (30kn), 100 (50kn) and 300 (100kn). 3 minutes on the phone in Croatia will probably cost about 12kn to UK and Europe and around 15kn to Australia and the USA. The country access code for calling Croatia is: +385 (00385). The three main mobile phone networks in Croatia are T-Mobile, VIP and Tele2. If bringing your handset from home, you will find it will hook up automatically to one of these. If you think you’ll be using your mobile phone a reasonable amount to either make phone calls within Croatia, or text and call home, you should consider purchasing a pre-paid SIM card. The three mobile network operators all have details of these on their websites. Make sure you call your home mobile phone operator before travelling, to make sure that roaming is enabled. At the same time, you’ll probably want to switch off data roaming if you have a smartphone, so you don’t rack up ridiculously high data charges.

6.4 HEALTH No inoculations are required to travel to Croatia. It is safe to drink tap water on the main land but double check when on the islands. Most common health problems within tourists are sunstroke, sunburn & dehydration so it is strongly advised to have a bottle of water and suncream on you at all times. As stated before medication can be very expensive, and prescriptions are often needed for items such as painkillers. Bring spare medication that you rely on with you (e.g. inhalers, epi-pens) to avoid costly trips to town.
