1. Florida Legislative Session Update - Jesse
Legislators on Easter holiday this week. Likely session will run late. The buzz: Leaders still working things out, still working on rules.
Good time now to call local legislators offices, especially during this holiday week. Use our letters’ talking points.
$900 million dollar difference between FL Senate and House on health budgets. House has the lower. Senate includes $3m ADAP, $2m AICP increases. Jesse monitoring impact on Medicaid.
Could do another round of letters to legislators. Budget conferee members – Jesse to notify FHAAN.
2. Rule 64D-4 Workshops Michael
Some proposals to merge DOH and Local Community Health Center … probably will not happen. Reorganizations may be off until next session. Please refer to the attached document ”Notice of Meeting/Workshop Hearings for the HIV/AIDS Community” Template letter to send to FHAAN members will include: 1. Consensus for us to ask for maintaining 400%. 2. Talking points as to why Impact on our community’s life (numbers of people, dollars, etc.)
Joey Wynn finalizing template letter today. FHAAN members to: 1. Write the DOH 2. Attend regional meeting 3. Bring letters to meeting TAI to coordinate who is attending each workshop. Use of Survey/Polling tool. TAI working on media outreach for these events. TAI to post documents to our FHAAN website and link to FHAAN members as good examples. Limit each talk to 3 minutes to keep focused and allow other to speak. Important to bring your letters and letters of those unable to attend to give to Suzanne (DOH staff) for the record.
