Weekly Calendar If you seek outdoor adventure, Tryon International Equestrian Center is surrounded by a variety of options for you to explore! North Carolina Fun Facts • Chimney Rock, the 535-million-year-old monolith for which the Park is named, is considered one of the most iconic sites in North Carolina. With over 1,000 acres, from its top, you’ll soak in the 75-mile panoramic views of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure. • THE GORGE is the steepest, fastest canopy tour in the county. Perched on the rim of the Green River Gorge in Saluda, NC, it descends 1100 vertical feet through 125 acres of old growth forest with 11 zip lines, a sky bridge, and 3 huge rappels. • The U.S. National Whitewater Center’s 700 acres offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for all ages and skill levels. Guests can enjoy whitewater rafting and kayaking, flatwater kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, zip lines, ropes courses, a canopy tour, and mountain biking on their 25+ mile trail system. • With more than 700 species of plants and flowers, the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is only the second of its kind in the country. This scenic, pedestrian walkway features an eclectic variety of blooms and bushes that pay homage to Western North Carolina’s natural culture. Local artwork and garden ornaments add to the beauty of the bridge’s Hickory Nut Gorge backdrop.
