How long have you exhibited at Facilities Show?

Does the show cater to your target audience?

This year was our first year exhibiting at the show. We have, however, attended the show for the previous three years as delegates.

It does for a segment of our target audience – FM managers. This show is perfect for them to see the varying developments across the trade and to meet with suppliers like ourselves.

Why did you choose to exhibit at Facilities Show over other shows? For us, this show was the most relevant in terms of its location and the demographic of delegates it attracts from the different areas of the FM industry.

The show puts you in a position to showcase your company to everyone and anyone. Face to face conversations are always beneficial.

What was your goal of this show, did you achieve it? Our goal was to test the water and see what sort of a response we would get with the budget we had. If we made our money back then it was a worthwhile exercise. The results were we met over 120 people over the 3 days and brought in leads totalling over £750k. Not bad for a £6K budget!

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exhibiting? The show puts you in a position to showcase your company to everyone and anyone. Face to face conversations are always beneficial, even if it’s just networking with other exhibitors. Opportunities will always come through relationship building with a wide range of like minded industry experts. This has been imperative for our growth over the years.

Do you believe exhibiting to those attending the Facilities Show increases your brand awareness within the industry? This depends on how you treat the show. Visual branding is completely dependent on the marketing budget set, however, getting yourself out and talking to people is where you can really help your brand to stand out. A smile, free sweets and willing conversation can go a long way!

Did you meet your financial targets for the event? We didn’t necessarily set a financial target. For us it was all about seeing how exhibitions would work for the company and how people would respond to us being there. I’d say, however, from the statement above that we did well financially.

Based on the last question, what was key to converting these leads? Ensuring that we continue to build on the relationships made whilst at the show is absolutely key. Where we have not converted leads we have still develop opportunities with the contacts made from the show by consistently developing on our relationships.

The results were we met over 120 people over the 3 days and brought in leads totalling over £750k. Not bad for a £6K budget! Will you be exhibiting again next year? YES! We’ve already signed up for a stand 3X the size of our stand from this year’s show and in a more central position of the show. We have also doubled our budget and plan to bring more staff along to the show.

Did you have time to explore, if so what part of the show stood out for you?

How did you prepare, what did you do, pre-show and at the show to really help drive your successful ROI results? To be honest, the main thing for us was to make sure that we had a professional looking stand that clearly stated what we do as a company. With one of the smallest stands in the show we really wanted the stand to look as good as possible with a good amount of literature on services etc. We also ran a number of email campaigns in the lead up to the event to inform current and potential clients that we were going to be attending the show. Post show we ran a series of campaigns targeted specifically at those we had met with and spoken with at the show. We supported this with continuous social media posts pre-show (including during set up), at the show and post-show.

I think the networking areas were really well situated across the show. I also found it really helpful to have the UBM stand there to be able to ask questions (as this was our first show) and discuss further opportunities for next year.

We’ve already signed up for a stand 3X the size of our stand from this year’s show. Did you find our meetings service useful on the day for meeting potential clients? We didn’t fully utilise this, so I’d say no. I think this is something we will be looking at using more for next year’s show. I see it being a good tool to use to arrange meetings for other senior members of the team.
