LINE-CAUGHT FROYANES VESSEL The Froyanes was built in 2011 and is 60 metres long with a fishing capacity of 650 metric tons. The vessel is manned by 18-20 crew and is typically out at sea for 6-8 weeks at a time. Line-caught is a fishing technique of putting out a line that can be as long as 10 miles, to which are attached shorter lines with hooks. Commonly used for catching cod and haddock, small squids are used on the hooks to attract the fish.
