FITNESS AT VERITY

Dear Women of Verity, My heart invites you all this year to abandon the way you think you should look and embrace the way you feel! Starting today, what if we shifted our wellness focus from body composition based resolutions to positive affirmations? Just for a moment think of what it would be like if we fully embraced self-care as opposed to self-sabotage? And what if we just moved for the sake of moving rather than moving to burn pounds? In this month’s issue, we will explore these internal benefits of exercise; drawing on the expertise of our Level Three Trainer, MJ-Shaw Carson. MJ will provide us with insight on how exercise works to not only break the post-holiday, self-loathing cycle but also, will help us to feel more positively about ourselves from the inside out. We will also draw on the personal experience of Verity Member, Heather Vaughan – who recently discovered her key fitness motivator. We hope this newsletter motivates each of you to focus more on the internal versus the physical benefits of exercise. We believe that by doing so, it will increase your self-confidence and enable you to become the best version of yourself. Breathe easy, Paige

FEBRUARY 2016 Let Verity Fitness, help you avoid the "Yoyo Cycle." Contact Paige for your wellness consultation.

Break the self-loathing, "Yoyo Cycle" The holiday season has come to an end and you have probably consumed more food and drinks than you planned. Now it is time for the “self-loathing” to kick in. You start punishing yourself with unrealistic expectations, hurtling into extreme workouts, dieting once again – this time with a better, newer diet – to achieve that body you have always dreamed of. But then, your motivation decreases. Fatigue creeps in, your cravings are stronger than ever and you become frustrated with yourself. The next thing you know, you give in and have that one double-chocolate chip cookie. Before you know it, that cookie turns into a glass of wine then, another cookie and you skip the gym all together. All of a sudden, you have fallen off the wagon completely and have regained the weight you worked so hard to lose – also known as, the “Yoyo Cycle.” So how do we break out of this self-loathing, “Yoyo Cycle?” The key is to practice consistency, balance and acceptance of life’s demands – health, aging, hormones, and gender as well as pressures of the holidays. Start small. Set goals that you know you will be able to achieve. For example: • Schedule time to exercise twice a week for 30 minutes at home or the gym. • Give yourself one cheat day where you can indulge in the foods you love. In setting these goals, you will establish a routine which will allow you to achieve results that will last long-term. You will find yourself feeling more energized, motivated to work out and have a positive outlook on life.

VERITY FITNESS' SUCCESS STORY - HEATHER VAUGHAN

For as long as I can remember, going to the gym on a regular basis has always been a constant struggle. I have tried everything to motivate myself to exercise regularly. I joined gyms close to home and the office, in between home and the office, cheap gyms, fancy gyms, nothing seemed to work. I spent more time joining each gym, then I did attending one. It was not until I joined Verity Fitness and began working out with my personal trainer MJ, that I realized it was not the convenience or the location of the gym that motivated me to attend. It was knowing that someone was there waiting for me – no pressure right? Now, I am dedicated to my workouts. I work our two mornings a week with MJ and it is fun! MJ puts me through a fast, effective workout that I would never follow through with on my own and we laugh the entire time. I never thought I would enjoy working out. Let alone crave my workouts. I find myself feeling stronger and more energized after workouts with MJ and for that I am grateful. Working out is has become a hobby rather than a chore. If I happen to lose weight on the way great, but the fact that I am feeling great and enjoying myself is more rewarding. Thank you, Paige and Verity Fitness.
