Most floorplans are composed of rectangular rooms. Floorplanner is a very quick tool for these, but there are also rooms that have angled walls. We’ll teach you some tricks how to draw these easily as well.

1) Prepare a background image

If you have a drawing of the plan, it helps a lot to upload this one first. If not, you can skip this step. NB: Is your file is a .pdf or .dwg format? Then you’ll first have to export it to a .png or .jpg image file with maximum width and height of 3000x3000 pixels.

1) open this menu with the last construction icon

2) scale it after it’s uploaded. (follow the instructions) 3) rotate it so most of the walls are either horizontal or vertical.

4) click save and you’re ready to start.

6) Split the angled wall where there are other walls meeting this wall.

Now we can draw a second room. 7) Click the 1st construction. 8) Set the interior wall thickness by typing (for instance) 0.1 followed by Enter. 9) Click & release on the split point you just made 10) Move your mouse to the opposite corner and click & release to finish this room.

11) Delete the redundant walls.

First we’ll draw the biggest angled exterior wall. 1) Click the 1st construction. 2) Type the right wall thickness followed by Enter. 3) Click & release where this angled wall begins 4) Move your mouse to the opposite corner so the room covers all rooms sharing this angled wall.

There you go! That’s the first angled wall. There are of course different methods to come to this result, but this method of splitting, drawing rooms and removing redundant walls is one of the quickest and has little margin for error.

5) Drag the bottom right wall corner to form the angled exterior wall & release it.

Let’s do the other side to get the hang of it.

7) On the bottom wall we also have to split the wall to have a location to end the first room.

Some of the interior walls were not alligned to each other. This is easily fixed by dragging the walls

Now you could hide the background drawing in the drawing menu. Just to see the result clearly. (you can better unhide it for adding windows and such). So here’s your plan with angled walls:

Now here’s how you can quickly finish the last walls by drawing 2 rooms.

And remove the redundant wall.
