Flutterfly FINISHED QUILT SIZE 60” x 72” Finished Block Size 10” x 10” Measurements include ¼” seam allowance. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated. Please check our website www.rileyblakedesigns.com for any revisions before starting this project. This pattern requires a basic knowledge of quilting technique and terminology. The quilt and block diagrams portrayed are virtual images. The layout and look of your project may differ when using actual fabric. FABRIC REQUIREMENTS 1 Flutterberry Fat Quarter Stack (FQ-4590-18) 11/4 yards (1.15 m) navy main (C4590 Navy) 2¾ yards (2.55 m) cream spot (C4594 Cream) Binding 5/8 yard (60 cm) Backing 3¾ yards (3.45 m) CUTTING REQUIREMENTS Please read instructions first before cutting. Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting sashing and border pieces. Fat Quarter Stack Using the template provided, cut 4 triangles from each of the following assorted prints: blue main, navy main, red main, blue plume, navy berries, red berries, navy spot, red spot, multi stripe, navy stripe, red stripe, blue paisley Using the template provided, cut 8 triangles from each of the following assorted prints: pink plume, blue berries, pink paisley, green paisley Note: The triangles are best cut from a 57/8” strip. Cream Spot Cut 6 strips 57/8” x WOF. Using the template provided, cut 80 triangles. Cut 4 strips 3¾” x WOF. Cut the strips into 40 squares 3¾” x 3¾”. Cut each square once diagonally to create 80 small triangles. Cut 1 strip 10½” x WOF. Cut the strip into 15 rectangles 2½” x 10½” for sashing. Cut 5 strips 2½” x WOF. Sew the strips together and cut into 4 rectangles 2½” x 46½” for Sashing. Cut 6 strips 2½” x WOF for Border 1. Navy Main Cut 7 strips 5½” x WOF for Border 2.

QUILT ASSEMBLY Refer to the quilt photo for placement of fabrics. Flutterfly Block These instructions are to make 1 block. Sew a cream spot triangle to an assorted print triangle to create Unit A. Repeat to create 4 Unit As.

Sew the 4 Unit As together to create the Center Unit. Sew the cream spot small triangles to the assorted print corners of the Center Unit to complete the Flutterfly Block. Repeat to create 20 Flutterfly Blocks.

Sashing and Blocks Refer to the Quilt Center Diagram for block placement. Sew a Flutterfly Block to a cream spot 2½” x 10½” rectangle. Repeat to make a row with 4 blocks and 3 sashing rectangles. Make 5 rows. Quilt Center Assembly Refer to the Quilt Center Diagram for row and sashing placement. Lay out the 5 rows and the 4 cream spot 2½” x 46½” sashing rectangles. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt. Borders Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first. Border 1 Side borders should be 58½”. Top and bottom borders should be 50½”. Border 2 Side borders should be 62½”. Top and bottom borders should be 60½”. Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Riley Blake fabric from the Flutterberry Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
