From October 24 through November 2, all Vallejo residents over the age of 16, including those living in the unincorporated areas, will have the opportunity to vote on how to spend $1 million on community projects to improve the City. For the first time, residents can also vote online from a remote location on their computer or mobile device. The vote will formally launch on October 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at a special Voting Expo on the Waterfront. At the expo, residents will have the opportunity to cast their vote, interact with Budget Delegates, and enjoy a variety of food and informational vendors. Features include live music, free haircuts by the Vallejo Peace Project, a family-friendly arts and crafts corner provided by The Hub, and free produce giveaways will be sponsored by the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Community organizations or vendors interested in partnering with the City and hosting a table or booth at no cost can apply online. The Cycle 3 ballot is the outcome of an 8-month process in which Vallejo residents and stakeholders screened, evaluated, and researched 562 ideas submitted by members of the community online and at nine Budget Assemblies in February and March. The 17-proposal ballot is separated into two sections with residents given the opportunity to cast a specific number of votes for each section: “Infrastructure,” projects that would enhance City of Vallejo or public agency infrastructure or equipment purchase; and “People,” one-year programs that follow Federal Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Guidelines, and offer a program, service,
