New England Business Association names Rhode Island Quality Institute a Finalist for 2018 New England Innovation Award PROVIDENCE, RI — The New England Business Association (NEBA), sponsor of the New England Innovation Awards, have announced the 2018 Finalists. NEBA selected RIQI from 213 innovative organizations to compete in the final phase of this competition. Innovation is at the heart of economic prosperity and NEBA continues to recognize those companies and organizations that have transformed their innovative ideas into a product or service that delivers proven value to customers. Former winners come from varying fields such as technology, manufacturing, service (both for profit and not-for-profit) and retail/distribution. Previous winners include notable companies such as Staples, PictureTel, Ben & Jerry’s, Brooks Automation, Genzyme, Nantucket Nectars, Imagitas!, Aurora Imaging Technology, Hubspot and iRobot. RIQI entered their Care Management Alerts & Dashboards (CMADs) product in the competition. The CMADs provide critical real-time information about their patients’ hospital and emergency department admissions to community-based providers. This closes a significant information gap in care coordination, that without which, patients can be at risk for readmissions, medical error, and inefficient care. The CMADs allow providers such as primary care physicians, Opioid Treatment Programs, and Community Health Centers to rapidly engage in care coordination, medication management, and preventive care. A recent impact analysis showed that the use of CMADs resulted in a 16 - 20% reduction in avoidable hospital and ED readmissions, and an approximately $13M in savings in 2017. “RIQI is delighted to be named a Finalist for the 2018 Business Association of New England Innovation Awards,” said RIQI President and CEO Laura Adams. “We’re committed to saving lives at the speed of data, and it’s exciting to see our work recognized not only for its impact on health and healing, but for its contributions to a thriving innovation ecosystem in New England.” Winners and Finalists of this prestigious award will be honored at the ‘Evening of Innovation’ Gala Dinner on May 10 at the Westin Hotel, Waltham MA.
