THE UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS AND LEARFIELD LICENSING PARTNERS UNVEIL “THE MEMPHIS STATE COLLECTION” Indianapolis. Just in time for back to school and the kickoff to the fall sports season, the University of Memphis is unveiling a new collection of vintage marks and imagery that will be available for purchase throughout the Memphis area. “The Memphis State Collection” represents a tremendous amount of in-depth research by both the University and Learfield Licensing Partners, who spent a great amount of time in the Memphis archives as well as with many people on campus to find past logos and imagery. The University’s history and traditions are woven into this special collection to help each piece tell a story, and appeal to Memphis fans of all ages. Product will be available this week at the Tiger Bookstore on Walker Avenue and at the University of Memphis bookstore on campus later this month. Retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lids and Dillard’s will also be carrying merchandise from The Memphis State Collection this fall. “We’re excited to launch The Memphis State Collection,” said Tom Bowen, University of Memphis athletic director. “A great deal of time and research was done into paying tribute to our remarkable past, from the Memphis script on the 1972-1973 basketball team’s jersey to other Memphis State logoed marks during our rich history.” “Great care was taken in researching and creating The Memphis State Collection,” said Wil Spires, executive vice president of retail/licensee development and marketing for Learfield Licensing. “We believe this tribute to their rich athletic history will resonate with proud alumni, as well as appeal to all consumers with stylish options from various clothing labels.” The Memphis State Collection will be supported by custom retail signage installations as well as social media posts throughout the year.
