Niantic, Inc.—creators of hit augmented reality games Pokémon GO and Ingress—and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation have formed a multi-year partnership to advance civic engagement in local communities around the United States through augmented reality experiences. The partnership will foster discovery, bring communities together and promote engagement by leveraging Pokémon GO integrations and experiences at select community events including Philly Free Streets. For more information, read on here . This program activity is conducted in partnership with the City of Philadelphia, The John S. and Jam es L. K ni ght F oundat i on and Ni ant ic, Inc., the company behind Pokémon GO. The Pokémon GO integration will include a curated selection of PokéStops across Philly Free Streets route. Players will be able to play the game normally, including catching local Pokémon, battling at Gyms and collecting items at PokéStops. Please note that there will not be any region-locked Pokémon and no special gameplay features at Philly Free Streets, the focus will be on exploring the community and enjoying Pokémon GO alongside other Trainers. Please use the hashtag #PhillyFreeStreets that is used for the entire Philly Free Streets program on social media.
